*Feline pancytopenia food recall*

Sadly in the last month there has been a marked rise in a new disease in cats which causes a dramatic reduction in white blood cells, anaemia and clotting deficiencies. At this stage it is unknown if it is contagious, it seems to affect cats in the same households regardless of if they go outdoors or not.

At the moment we don't know the cause and the Royal Veterinary College are investigating it but it is thought it may be linked to CERTAIN GRAIN FREE FOODS.

Because of this some major cat food brands are being recalled, please see the attached post for details.

If you have any questions please give us a ring on 01584 872147 or have a look at this Royal Vet College link: https://www.rvc.ac.uk/news-and-events/rvc-news/feline-pancytopenia-update

Thankfully at the moment this disease is still relatively uncommon, we have sadly seen one case here but we would like to stress to clients it is still considered to be a rare disease and the best thing to do is to simply stop feeding grain free food whilst we await further information.

Whilst Waltons Farm Cat Hotel are coping ok (because Paul luckily still has his job) many of my fellow cattery / kennel owners are not faring too well and are really struggling.

We ask that Boarding Kennels and Catteries are recognized as directly and severely suffering from the impact of the Covid travel restrictions and be given access to support in the same way as the travel and hospitality industries.

It's quiet at Waltons Farm Cat Hotel during the 2nd lockdown but here are some of our recent guests.
