Another lovely week! ❤️

We’ve had the most beautiful sunshine and we’ve had the harshest rain and wind on our walks 💨 It’s been a busy week, we’ve had doggies boarding for two weeks (well done Isla you legend), lots of overnights and daycares, a couple of newbies (well done Nora and Nala, clever girls 🩷), so many walks, lots of cuddles, the log burner has been roaring and keeping my babies warm and cosy. On a personal note, my sea swimming has been fresh!! 🥶

This dog! My Dexter 🖤 The thing I love and worry about the most!

He gave us a massive scare this week and we ended up at the out of hours emergency vet. He wasn’t well and he was wee’ing a lot of blood.

I was thinking the worst, obvs. He’s 11, he’s already on steroids for a condition called degenerative myelopathy which he’s had for two years.

The vets did a few inconclusive tests and were suggesting all sorts of further intrusive treatments and keeping him in overnight, which he would have hated. So we made the decision to bring him home and kept a close eye on him. I’ve never spent so much time crouching down in the garden watching him wee. But he made a huge turnaround after a couple of days and he’s back and fighting fit.

It’s like he’s had a new lease of life, he’s reverted to his puppy like ways and is loving life again. We’ve treated him with his favourite squeaky balls with the tags still attached and the log burner 🔥 Go Dex!

A little summary in photos of a good, busy, varied, week of a dog walker/sitter!

I’ve increased my walks slightly this week, feeling a bit stronger and fitter after my accident. So I have been reunited with lovely Fizz, Luna and Winnie who I hadn’t seen for a few weeks. Gorgeous to see you girls 💖

The hotel has been busy, a couple of long term guests, lots of short stays, lots of daycare, a couple of trials for newbies (well done pups) and lots of cuddles on the sofa 🤗

Loving this mild autumn so far! 🍂 🔥 🧡

Love my job. Love the dogs. Love where we live. Love my fellow dog walkers ❤️

My lovely friend and fellow dog walker took the first two photos today when we walked together with all of our dogs on the 8am walk. Such a gorgeous light! 💛 My pack and her pack got on brilliantly, they ran and played together, they had such a lovely time and did us proud when we came across other dogs on the walk who were on lead and they sat patiently and let the others pass. The last couple of photos are my friend Karen, dog whisperer extraordinaire 🩷 🐶

BEAU 🤍🤎🩵

My boy Beau 🫶🏼 A big soft spot for this one. One of my first ever clients, I’ve looked after him every week for the last 3 and a half years. Daycare twice a week, 100’s of walks, holiday stays, 1000’s of cuddles. He’s literally part of our family. We love you Beau!

Beau has gone home to his wonderful family today after a week’s stay. He’s been thoroughly spoiled, cuddles with every family member, with all boys girlfriends and friends! All the teenagers know Beau and he loves them all ☺️

Ravioli! 🩶

I suppose these photos of Ravioli’s stay show the difference of a dog being put into kennels whilst you’re on holiday, or with a boarder in the comfort of their own home. Ravioli has gone home to his lovely family after a 10 day stay…but oh my he’s had the best time. He came to the Leigh Regatta with us, he celebrated our son’s 24th birthday with us, he went to the pub with us, he had Sunday morning lie-ins with us, he had cuddles with all the family, multiple walks in country parks. He basically became part of our family for the ten days he stayed with us. Like all our guests do. Home from home. Loved like they are at home 🥰

Holly! 💖

This sweet girl has gone home today to her loving family after a 6 night stay with us. This is Holly’s longest stay with me so far and the longest she’s been away from her family ever, and she did so well. A cheeky little pup, she is full of fun and character, she has been a pleasure to have in the house. Just a happy girl who loves humans so much and gets on with all other dogs. A delight to have you Holly Bolly Boo Boo 💖💖💖💖

Leigh Regatta! ❤️

When a dog sitter will not let her injury get her down! Lovely Ravioli the Wiggy has come to stay for a few days so with the help of my husband we have a fabulous few hours in old Leigh enjoying the sunshine and festivities! Ralph and Ravioli were brilliant, we bumped into lots of my lovely clients too which was so lovely 🥰

So this has happened! 😳

Following a car accident recently (in my new car 😭) when someone drove into the back of me whilst I was stationary at some traffic lights, I have ended up with damage to all 7 discs in my neck. I had an MRI this week and the scan shows my neck has been damaged at every level, caused by the trauma of the accident. The pain has extended into my left shoulder, arm, hand and all fingers.

So, the reason for this post is firstly to say thank you to all my brilliant clients who were wonderfully understanding when I had to cancel walks following the accident. Secondly, the biggest thanks to my clients who I have contacted this week to say I need to reduce my workload for a few weeks and I am unable to walk their beloved doggies until I’m better.

I am still walking every day but am trying to do just one walk a day instead of my usual 2, 3 or 4. I have made dogs who are home alone while their owners are at work my priority for the time being, until I can start increasing my workload again. It’s been really hard to have those conversations, I have such an amazing pack of dogs and I am going to miss them all so much for the next few weeks.

All my daycare and boarding bookings are most definitely not affected and me and the family (and Ralph and Dexter) can’t wait to welcome everyone through our door 🥰

Just to add I won’t be wearing this sling whilst out on walks! It’s just when I’m at home in order to rest it 😊

Summer! 🌞 💛

I’ve just realised I haven’t posted for ages so as the summer hols are nearly at an end and my last holiday doggies are going home, here’s a little collection of some of the furry faces that have checked in at the Happy Hounds Hotel these last few weeks 🏨
