August! The busiest month of the year for us dog boarders. So many doggos checking in and checking out of the HH Hotel. I need one of those posh revolving doors like they have in the fancy London hotels! It’s not just dogs boarding for a week or two, it’s weekends while owners go to festivals, it’s days out and weddings, weekends away, daycare while hoomans go to family bbq’s, it’s caring for dogs while owners have a baby! (that was a special one 🩵), it’s while owners move house or go to the theatre or go on a work training placement, it’s many different occasions…and Happy Hounds is always here to provide love and care for the furry ones! All managed in amongst heatwaves, which has been tricky at times. I’ve had clients asking for extra walks due to knee replacement surgery, collar bone fractures and back surgeries! It’s all happened in August…and we’re only 9 days in 🤣

Last pic is me managing a dip in the sea yesterday while husband looked after the guests! ❤️

We nailed it today gang! Three Whippets and Three Doodles. The symmetry was perfect 👌🏻 All six of you looking at the camera and looking fabulous. All at 7.45am this morning, a good start to the day ⭐

It’s a Whippet Weekender at The HH Hotel this weekend! Plus of course a little fluffy one thrown in for good measure 🥰 Maisie the Cockapoo is being very patient and brilliant putting up with all the needy pointy nosed ones! Love you all you skinny little Whippets - Ralph, Alfie, Arthur, Nelly and Oscar.

So after buying a Mud Daddy last week, it’s been collecting dust in the back of the van ever since with me wondering would I ever use it. Oh I needn’t of worried, two of my gang put it to the test today in true style 🤣 one rolled in 💩 and the other one launched herself into the Estuary whilst the tide was out 🤢 (if you know you know).

Cleaned them up outside the van and even sprayed them with some doggy perfume….they looked and smelled like they’d just stepped out the salon 👌🏻

Don’t make a habit of it though please guys, I love the new toy but don’t want to be using it every day 🤣

Happy Hounds Hotel has been awarded a 5 star rating! ⭐ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After a very thorough inspection by Southend Council Animal Welfare Department, I’m delighted to say I’ve been awarded another 5 star rating with a further 3 years Licence to Board (the maximum you can get). It’s like an OFSTED inspection, but for animals! We affectionately call it DOGSTED in our house! Thank you to all my brilliant clients for helping me to get my paperwork all up to date and putting up with my texts requesting vaccination records!

Most people are surprised when I explain how thorough the inspections are, what is required of us boarders, the paperwork involved is ALOT and there’s always something new to do, a new piece of paperwork to bring on board. The Inspector told me there’s so many unlicensed people starting up doggy daycare and overnight boarding in our area so please be careful if you’re looking for care for your dog.

In the meantime I shall continue to love your dogs like my own, spoil them, cuddle them, take them on lovely walks and give them the 5 star care and attention they deserve! ❤️

Dexter’s first group walk in about a year! As I had a small and quiet group Friday morning I thought I’d treat my Dex to an outing in the buggy with the pack! He loved it 😊 We bumped into a couple of dog walkers, he met lots of dogs, he had a good old snort around in the grass and was absolutely worn out by the end. The other dogs were brilliant, my Ralph is used to it now but Bella and Isla took it all in their stride bless them 🐾 A successful mission! 🥰

After a few fabulous days off in Devon, it was back to walkies, daycare and boarding yesterday. I honestly miss these dogs so much when I go away, it’s the only job I’ve ever had where I’m looking forward to going back to work after a holiday!

Greeted with lots of happy smiley faces and truly blessed with sunny skies today, which lifted all our spirits 🥰

Dexter on wheels! 🛞 My little Dex has a condition called Degenerative Myelopathy which he’s been suffering with for a couple of years now. He’s on steroids for it which have been life changing for him and they strengthen his back legs which were slowly giving way. He’s also almost 12 which ain’t half bad for a French Bulldog. He does amazingly well but unfortunately he can’t walk very far at all anymore and he certainly can’t join me on the group walks like my Ralph does.

When we booked a holiday to Devon there was never any question that we wouldn’t take him but obviously knew it would restrict us massively because of his mobility issues 🥹

So we bought him a doggy pushchair! It’s been an absolute game changer! He really loves it, he’s quite happy laying in it, being pushed around and watching the world go by. If he wants to get out he taps the front to let us know!

We went for the ‘off road’ version so we could take him on the beach and on rough terrain, all of which has been put to the test on our trip to Devon!

I didn’t think we’d be pushing buggies again until we became grandparents but we’re both weirdly enjoying it 🤣 More importantly though, it’s been an absolute joy to see Dexter enjoy his holiday….and of course all the attention he gets for looking super cute in his doggy stroller 🥰

Dashi the Frenchie! 🩷

I took Dashi home to her family after a 10 day stay with us, all over the Easter weekend and holidays. She has been a little dreamboat, a bundle of energy, one of the most cuddliest dogs that’s ever stayed! Oh she loves a cuddle in bed in the morning 🥰 Your presence around the house will be missed Dashi, you settled into our family life so well. You have made us laugh and we’ve loved watching you sunbathing in the garden! Until next time Dashi 😘
