UPDATE....SALON IS CLOSED TODAY...I AM STRUGGLING IN THE HEAT AND NOT RISKING IT. SORRY.😭💔

Today the salon will be closing at 1130am due to the heat already 26° at 730am

No dog has died from missing a couple of walks, but many have from walking or exercising in heat, and have blistered feet from scorching hot paths, and many more traumatising effects from the heat.

***Customer Notice***

As you all know we are in another heatwave, I am open but I reserve the right to close the salon at any time if I feel it is too hot or too humid to safely groom your dogs.

Please do not be upset with me if your groom is cancelled, I am thinking of your dogs welfare and mine too, but primarily your
dog/s.
I will prioritise those dogs that have been cancelled, should the need arise for another appointment asap.......

Preventing unwanted litters is a goal we all share—but it's time to rethink the surgical approach. Hysterectomies and vasectomies, which preserve hormonal balance, can safely be performed as early as 8 weeks of age, making dogs sterile without disrupting their natural hormones.

In this study, researchers looked at whether the age at which dogs were spayed or neutered, meaning how long they were exposed to their natural s*x hormones, affected how healthy they were in old age. They studied a group of long-lived pet dogs to learn what helps dogs live longer, healthier lives. Dogs with the fewest age-related health problems were considered the most “robust.”

The results showed that both male and female dogs who kept their hormones longer (i.e., were spayed or neutered later) were 3 to 10 times more likely to be healthy in old age compared to those altered earlier. Once hormone exposure and age were taken into account, there was no difference in old-age health between males and females.

This study highlights how important s*x hormones may be for staying healthy later in life and shows that early-life decisions—like when to spay or neuter—can have long-term effects on health.

It has been brought to my attention that my page doesn't have any info on my businesses terms and conditions. So here you go.....

Terms and conditions

1. All new customers will be asked to pay a nonrefundable booking fee of the full groom fee on thier first appointment only from 1st August 2025.
2. Grooming prices are only a guide of the price on booking and are based on breed, style, technique used. This may change once the dog has been checked over when you arrive for your appointment. Depending on coat state, temperament of dog etc.
3. All appointments are booked on a 1-1 basis, no other dogs will be in the salon with your dogs , other than cross over of dogs leaving as yours come in that are late being collected.
4. Please arrive on time for your appointment as Late drop offs may be turned away and charged for, as i may not have enough time to complete your groom with you being late.
5. No shows will be charged full groom fee before another appointment is offered and at our discretion you may have to pay a nonrefundable booking fee for your next appointment.
6. We don't groom bi***es that are in season , so if your bitch is in season please let me know so I can rearrange the appointment. If your bitch is in the salon and I find her to be in season the groom will be stopped and you will be charged full fee and asked to collect her.
7. If your dog/s are found to have fleas, you will incur an extra fee, for flea shampoo, and flea bomb for the salon.
8. Always be open and honest with us, as forewarned is forearmed. We will work with difficult or grumpy dogs but can only do this safely if we know before hand.
This is for their benefit and safety as much as ours.
9. Nail trims are included in all grooms where possible, we will NOT FIGHT with your dog/s, it is up to you as their guardian to teach them to accept having their feet held and touched.

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.
They’re doing far more than just washing the dog.

We've been banging on about this for years! HEATSTROKE is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY! Fortunately, now more and more professionals are communicating the same message!

Whilst the need for rapid cooling with COLD water (1-15°C) has been recognised for decades in equestrian and human medicine, the dog world has lagged behind, and very poor information still circulates. e.g. "cool the paws", "cover with wet towels", "avoid cold water as it will cause shock"

THE KEY MESSAGES ARE............

💦"COLD WATER IMMERSION" (1-15°C)💦
(If you can't immerse, keep pouring ANYTHING COLD over the dog - hose, soft drinks, milk, etc)
