Fraggle's Paws

Fraggle's Paws Every dog deserves to live their best life ever filled with snuggles, adventures and fun walks.

My name is Nicola and, after 46yrs working in accounts including 18yrs teaching adults, I am now following my passion of working with dogs through my business "Fraggle's Paws" as a qualified dog trainer with IMDT (The Institute of Modern dog Trainers). All the uniquely individual dogs I have known, beginning with my grandfather's border terrier, Henry, through all the cuddly and feisty dogs of fam

ily and friends, to those I have been privileged to own, have inspired me to help others along their journey of dog ownership and, since 2017, I have accumulated over 450hrs volunteering with Dogs Trust Dog School. Fraggle's Paws is named after my first rescue dog - a quirky, worried boy who decided to choose me for his forever home and taught me so much, along with my first dog Tom, whom I was honoured to inherit from my late neighbours. Tom and Fraggle inspired me to undertake hours of learning in order to help them live their best lives with me, and that learning has not stopped, with my current two rescues teaching me new things every day. Fraggle's Paws services include:

Basic Training Workshops (2 - 4 dogs) - Small group (2 -5 dogs) beginners (Easy Peasy Puppy up to 6 months and adolescent/adult dog options) and improvers classes (IMDT Pertnership Grades) - 1-2-1 Training - Solo Training Walks. Please follow this page or email/message me for more information; availability; dates; venues; and prices. I am fully insured and only use positive reward and concept based training methods so that you and your dog have the best possible experience to take forward in your lives together. Your Puppy or Dog will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end of your course.

POV.
My dog coped with last night's storm by barking and moving.

Did I worry he'd disturb the neighbours? No, because if they were sleeping through that storm, him barking wasn't going to be a problem.

How did I know he was coping ok?
Because he could interact with me, play find it with treats and eat.

We had the grandmother of all slow moving thunderstorms and torrential rain in the early hours of this morning.
How did your dog cope with it?

A bit cooler today but still needing early and late walks. The heat and humidity will also affect your dog's stress bucket, their ability to learn and make great choices, so cut the walk short if necessary.

Here's another reminder about temperature and exercise risks from our friends at Dog First Aid West Nottingham

It’s looking like it’s going to be a scorching bank holiday weekend, so it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with what temperatures are safe for your dog☀️🐶

Every year our vets treat hundreds of heat stroke cases and, heartbreakingly, some end in tragedy. Many are unfortunately a result of owners not knowing the dangers of exercising their dogs in temperatures to hot for them to handle.

Heat-related illnesses are almost always preventable. DONT TAKE THE RISK and make sure your pet isn’t overheating in the sun.

Temperatures over 24 degrees will be uncomfortable for most of our dogs, so make sure you are walking them at the coolest times of the day or simply keep them at home and give them some mental stimulation and enrichment things to do instead.

If you think your dog may be suffering from heat stroke, contact your vet immediately! If out-of-hours, find your nearest emergency vet.
