With Autumn approaching...
As the leaves turn and autumn walks begin, it’s important to remember that conkers can be dangerous for dogs. These shiny seeds contain a toxin called aesculin, found in all parts of the horse chestnut tree – seeds, bark, leaves and flowers. If eaten, aesculin can upset your dog’s stomach, causing vomiting, diarrhoea, drooling, or loss of appetite ⚠️
Conkers can also be a choking hazard or cause an obstruction in the stomach.
👉 If you think your dog has eaten a conker, or is showing any concerning signs, always contact your vet for advice.
📢 Share this with your fellow dog lovers to help keep every four-legged friend safe on their autumn adventures.
