You might have seen the videos doing the rounds of owners clipping their horses with cheap dog trimmers for under £20 👀

Whilst it might seem like a brilliant budget-friendly option for body clipping, you could actually be doing your horse more harm than good.

There’s a reason these videos almost always feature a very clean, fine-coated horse with a solid-coloured coat… because lightweight trimmers simply aren’t designed to cope with dense coats or full body clips — even for dogs!

Low-powered trimmers can tug and pull at the hair, causing discomfort and irritation, whilst ultra-close cutting blades can leave the coat too short to properly protect the skin, increasing the risk of sunburn.

Itch Mast-er from Great Horse Products is literally MY FAVOURITE for fly control and now I'm so excited to try the shampoo!

I've just had a sniff of the lemongrass and lavender shampoo though and omg, it is HEAVEN!!! Very tempted to keep this for my own use, nevermind the horses 🤫😂

The fly cream and spray has UV protection, stops itching, prevents hair loss and can still be smelt 24 hours later! Unlike many others, it smells lush too, you'll want to use it on yourself!

✨️ Possibly THE BEST glow up I've ever done! ✨️

This is Ruby, a really sweet young horse that I have been looking forward to clipping ever since her family got her about 2 years ago.

She's been very poorly until recently, so I was tasked with her first clip to get her tidied up now that she's feeling much better.

I think anyone could be forgiven for thinking there was months in between these two pictures, rather than less than 2 hours!

Of course, Ruby behaved impeccably and enjoyed every second of her pamper session, just as I expected 😍

Good morning everyone, it is another beautiful sunny day!

⚠️ But with horses, we are always battling something, so you've probably noticed increasing midges and flies 🦟🪰

I just have to share with you a product that I absolutely swear by for fly / midge control:
Itch Mast-er from Great Horse Products

It is fantastic in preventing Chester's sweet-itch, reducing flies when I'm riding, and as a bonus it smells so fresh and delightful! Chester is always getting compliments on how good he smells even 24 hours after application - it really does last!
Another fantastic thing, it even has UV protection!!!

Use the cream for especially itchy / midge-prone areas ie mane line, tail, privates, belly, face.
Then finish with a light spritz on their body or fly rug. Don't forget to spray yourself and you might even get compliments on how good you smell - for once 🤣💩 🐎

PLAITING AND SUMMER TURNOUT WORKSHOPS ARE BACK 🙌☀️‼️

🐎 Where: Newhall Farm, Elland, Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX5 9PH
🐎 When: Sunday 26th April, 1:30pm - 4pm

This is a 2.5 hour workshop in a small group, with me initially demonstrating tips, tricks and products, then letting everyone have a go under my guidance.

Suitable for any horse owners, from complete beginners to someone wanting to improve / broaden their skills.
The workshop won't focus on one discipline, but instead, general turnout skills for whatever your summer plans are, whether that's dressage, showing, happy hacking or making your retired pal look a million bucks ✨️

You will be learning how to plait, get a shiny coat, tidy manes / tails / legs / faces, and do quarter marks (either traditional or creative ones).
I will also be sharing my tips and tricks to cut corners and make life a little easier for yourself!

A full lesson plan will be tailored to the group's needs.

Prices are £50pp (50% deposit secures your booking).

You will need to wear appropriate clothing and bring any refreshments for yourself but you will be using all of my equipment / products.
We will also already have a suitable horse at the venue to practice on, so please don't bring your own 😆

Places are very limited, so please message me ASAP if you're interested or want to book!

Did you know that I also offer behavioural sessions?

This very intelligent, sensitive mare has always bitten and kicked when having a rug, saddlepad or saddle put on. She wasn't just making threats, she would very quickly follow through!

However, in just the first session we had huge breakthroughs in understanding each other, and in the third session, they had a little ride! 🥰

Does anyone clip as part of their weight management programme or is it just one of the many equestrian myths that it is beneficial?

P.S. I nearly stole this little cutie to bring him home with me today 🧡 He's so diddy I could have definitely picked him up and plonked him on the back seat of my car 😂

Mya Moo had a custom clip fit for a queen! 👑 💕

She hasn't been feeling herself lately due to having grade 2 stomach ulcers 🤕
Now she's been given the ok from the vets to have her clip and start ridden work again, so hopefully she's back on the road to recovery and returning to her sweet natured self 🙏

She's incredibly lucky to have THE BEST family that wasted no time in getting her scoped and treated by the fantastic team at Donaldsons Vets 👏

There is ALWAYS a reason for challenging behaviour from horses, most of the time it is pain!
