Friday fun with these future HooperStars 😍

Last week was our first week back outside in the field for the foundation and progression groups. It was chilly but beautiful.

All the dogs transitioned beautifully to being back outdoors, ready to show off their skills worked on over the looooong winter!

It’s National Terrier Day!

I have a big soft spot for terriers. I am lucky enough to have lived with one and a half in my life so far.

First my Jack Russell, Spud. Came to our family at 6 months old. We never did any formal training with her and and yet she had the best recall of any dog I have ever lived with 😅 She learnt everything she needed to know by copying our older dog (collie x retriever), who had done lots of training with my sister.

Second, my beautiful half spaniel half terrier mix (Yorkie and Border), Chewiee. Chew’s tenacity and needs constantly kept me on my toes. She taught me so much. Bold and fearless in so many ways but then very sensitive in others.

Both are greatly missed 🌈🪽

I now get my terrier fix every week with a fantastic variety in class - from speedy Norfolk Terriers to feisty Lakelands. Classes just wouldn’t be the same without them!

Disco wasn’t the only Hoop Doggy Dog to make an appearance at Crufts this year.

My favourite Norwegian Elkhound, Odin, was showing and not only won the Limit class but also received Reserve CC in Best Dog!

Well done Lidia and Odin 🤩🤩

Odin loves his hoopers and I can’t wait to watch these guys progress in their showing and hoopers careers 😊

💚💚WE PASSED💚💚

We had an amazing day. Disco took the whole Crufts experience in his stride and I could not be prouder of him.

He passed his KC Bronze GCDS test in the most challenging environment. It was so busy yesterday. So many senses on overload but he absolutely smashed it and had lots of fun in the process.

Thank you to all those that wished us luck, took videos of us in the ring AND all those who assisted in helping me train Disco to de-hooliganise around other dogs in the run up!

He is a model good citizen now…😅

I’ve been putting off posting this but Chew deserves her last rosette post 🖤

When the CHUK 2024 league winners were announced I wasn’t for a minute expecting anything in the post as Chewiee only attended two shows last year. I was completely blindsided when this arrived. Wonderful but also yet another moment pulling the rug from under me 💔

Chew loved rosette posing (probably more than the actual competing bit). Her record holding 4 rosettes at once!

Chew was always a sensitive girl in the ring. Conditions had to be perfect for her to keep her head in the game. She had a lot of underlying physical issues, which is why she retired from agility. Hoopers was a fantastic outlet for her. She still struggled on her bad days but when she was feeling good she was awesome.

Because of her I am doing a job I love, teaching a sport I love and introducing the joys of hoopers to others. This is her legacy 🖤
