Tips and tricks -
Having recently heard a friend lost their dog due to digesting something they weren't aware of it eating, in the first instance should your pet eat something unsuitable as soon as you can give your pet 2 raw eggs, this will enable a reflex where the pet will vomit should the item be indigestible or aid prevention while you seek assistance from a vet. This will not work with solid objects but has been tried and trusted where dogs have eaten sugary substances which has prevented shock.

I'm with animal clients this morning.
A visiting dog to the neighbours of my last client died overnight.
PLEASE do NOT give your dogs ice cubes or other frozen items in the heat to cool them down! Ice cubes do not cool dogs down! I post this warning more than once every summer.
Giving ice cubes to dogs in the heat has the opposite effect of cooling. The canine anterior hypothalamus is triggered to warm up the body because it recognises something icy cold has been absorbed, and subsequently the bodily temperature rises to compensate for this. In extreme heat a dogs' temperature needs to be reduced gradually.
Sadly the above is the case in the dog mentioned above, just 7 years old.
Give dogs tepid water only. Tepid water soaked towels rubbed into the dogs fur close to the skin to wick away heat from the body will keep them cool, especially under forelegs (armpits) and pads. NOT ICE CUBES

Sad post alert 🚨 This is Ruby who usually visits our daycare and groomers here at bark. Ruby went for a walk in Rectory park a couple of days ago with her owners. As ruby is only a young puppy they often pick up bits and bobs in their mouths along the way. Unfortunately Ruby picked up an Acorn during her walk and ingested it. Later that night she fell ill and although the vets did everything possible to save her she sadly passed away. Ruby’s owners would like us to warn all of our customers and dog owners about how some types of Acorns are poisonous our dogs. This was a first for us at Bark as this isn’t common knowledge. Please keep an eye on what your pups are picking up in the park or even in your gardens. Our thoughts are with Ruby’s family at this incredibly tough time and all of her fur friends will miss her here at Bark ❤️👼🏼 PLEASE SHARE TO RAISE AWARENESS x
