Nell is always a little anxious, but that’s ok, we are here to give lots of fusses and make the experience one they will enjoy.

Whether your dog is a rescue, it’s their first groom, or they’ve had a bad experience elsewhere, we understand that some dogs need a little extra patience and care. Our gentle groomers take the time to help your dog feel safe and relaxed, even those who’d rather be anywhere else than the salon!

For dogs who really struggle, we can even arrange for them to be the only dog in the salon, so all our focus is on keeping them calm and comfortable.

☀️ Cooling Tips for Your Pup This Summer ☀️

We often get asked if clipping dogs short helps them stay cool in the heat, but this isn’t always the right course of action!

In fact, clipping some breeds too short can interfere with their natural ability to regulate body temperature, and even leave their skin exposed to sunburn and insect bites. Every breed and coat type is different, so it’s important to understand what’s right for your dog.

Here are some safe and effective ways to keep your dog cool when the temps soar:

1️⃣ Feed frozen raw food if your dog is on a raw diet
2️⃣ Treat them to dog-friendly ice creams or frozen yoghurts 🍦
3️⃣ Use cooling mats around the home
4️⃣ Offer bone broth instead of water to encourage a greater intake of fluids
5️⃣ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
6️⃣ Book in for regular grooming to remove undercoat and promote healthy temp regulation
7️⃣ Frozen raw bones – perfect for cooling AND dental health! 🐶🦷

Grass Seeds – A Small Danger with a Big Impact!

As the summer grass grows, so does the risk of grass seeds causing problems for your pup, especially in their paws, ears, and even eyes. These tiny seeds can work their way under the skin and lead to painful infections, swelling, and even abscesses if left untreated.

🚨 What to Watch For:
✔️ Licking or chewing paws
✔️ Limping or discomfort when walking
✔️ Redness, swelling, or a visible entry point

🛑 Prevention Tips:
✨ Check your dog’s paws (and ears!) after every walk
✨ Keep the fur between their toes trimmed
✨ Avoid long grassy areas where possible

If you notice anything unusual, don’t wait, seek advice from your vet. Early action can prevent a minor issue becoming a major one.
