Look what arrived in the post today! 🎉📚🐾

I'm super proud of myself for achieving my Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare qualification.

The last two years have been a balancing act of studying, growing my business and raising my children, but all the hard work has been worth it. ❤️

A huge thank you to all of you and your dogs for contributing to my knowledge and supporting my learning through practice. Being able to apply what I've learned with your wonderful dogs has been invaluable. 🐶❤️

Now to decide what's next! 📚😊

Marlow and Rosie enjoyed checking out the new equipment at Harbury Fields Secure Dog Walking Fields today. Not sure this was the intended purpose of the podium but they enjoyed playing hide and seek in it! 🤣

Thank you all so much for your flexibility, patience, and understanding this week during the extremely hot weather.

Your dogs’ safety and wellbeing will always be my top priority, and I really appreciate everyone supporting the decision to adjust/cancel walks during the hottest days. ☀️🐾

Thankfully, services will resume as normal from Monday. I can’t wait to see all your fur babies again! 🐩🐕🐶

When we say we’re a family business, we really do mean it 🐾

Today my dad has been helping me reinforce our laurel boundary with 14-gauge wire mesh, making extra sure your fur babies stay safe and secure and don’t make a break for freedom! 💪🐶

We’re always looking at ways to improve our space and give you peace of mind while your dogs are in our care ❤️

We were proud to donate 32 litres of water on Friday to support the girls’ school sponsored walk/run around the village.

The event is raising funds for a new bike shelter, helping children safely store their bikes while at school and encouraging more sustainable travel.

Community projects like this make a real difference, and we’d love to see more local businesses get involved and support the fundraising efforts where they can. Every contribution, big or small, helps move the project closer to completion. 🚲💙

☀️DONT RISK YOUR DOGS LIFE☀️
Know the signs, start cooling, call a vet

Signs of heatstroke can progress very quickly. It only takes a 2°C rise in body temperature for heatstroke to kick in. Once in heatstroke, your dog can suffer from brain damage or even death in 15 minutes!

If you think your dog may have heatstroke it is vital that you immediately start cooling them down and call a vet for further advice. Getting early advice and treatment is essential to saving a dog’s life. Research has found that in the UK, 1 in 7 dogs that are taken to vets with heatstroke don’t survive, although 98% that are seen early with mild signs are likely to recover.

With temperatures forecast to reach close to 30°C over the coming week, I wanted to remind everyone of my Hot Weather Policy.
As a small, hands-on business, I take full responsibility for every dog in my care and will never take unnecessary risks with their well-being.

Kirsty’s K-nines – Hot Weather Policy
Walks:
🌡Your dog will not be walked if I believe the weather makes it unsafe. Your dogs’ safety comes first.
🕑Where possible, I’ll start walks earlier in the day to avoid the heat and accommodate as many dogs as I can. Availability is limited, and I may not be able to adjust every booking.
🌳Walks may be shortened or adapted to shaded routes or changed to pop-in visits/toilet breaks to keep dogs comfortable and safe.
🐶Priority will be given to vulnerable clients, followed by dogs who are home alone during the day. If you’re home or working from home, your walk may be rescheduled or cancelled.
🚫If a walk is cancelled due to weather conditions, you won’t be charged. Any prepaid sessions will be credited towards your next booking.

Daycare:
🚰Increased access to fresh water and cooling opportunities throughout the day
🆒️More indoor rest time with fans/cooling mats available
🐾Walks may be replaced with garden visits, enrichment sessions, or shorter toilet breaks if temperatures become unsafe

Please be aware that some dogs are more vulnerable to heat-related illness, including:
• Flat-faced breeds
• Elderly dogs
• Puppies
• Overweight dogs
• Dogs with thick or double coats
• Dogs with underlying health conditions

Owners can help by:
• Ensuring dogs have access to water before collection
• Avoiding heavy meals immediately before daycare/walks
• Informing me of any health concerns or recent illness
• Providing cooling coats or items if your dog benefits from them
