I often get asked about the benefits of INDIBA and what it can be used for 🪄

A number of my clients are now huge INDIBA fans as the results really do speak for themselves 💪❤️

This horse came to stay with us 2 weeks ago following kissing spine surgery 🩻 His owner had been struggling mounting and luckily took him for a full veterinary investigation following my assessment.

🦴 He has had the bones shaved (osteotomy) between vertebrae T14-16. Once inside the vet discovered that his vertebrae had fused which will have been extremely uncomfortable. There are now nice clear spaces between these vertebrae and he should be much more comfortable once he has recovered ❤️‍🩹

He has been a brilliant patient 🥰 he’s had his stitches removed today after 2 weeks box rest 🧵 and tomorrow he can start doing short hand walks.

❤️‍🩹 This pony presented as 3/10 lame on trot up on hard ground. We noticed a firm circular lump on the inside of the fetlock and contacted Oakhill vets who came out and performed an ultrasound scan on the leg 🦵

💭 The fluid filled lump is a synoviocoele - an outpouching of the tendon sheath under the skin due to a small break in the palmar annular ligament/sheath wall on the inside of the limb.

This pony was taken into the Oakhill clinic for the lump to be drained and medicated with an anti inflammatory 💉 A pressure bandage was applied to the leg for 72 hours 🤕

This lovely boy is having 6 weeks box rest with short controlled walks before being re scanned with the hope that the annular ligament and tendon sheath wall have healed🤞

📸 Comparison photos are 10 days apart pre and post draining 📸

This pony came straight to us from Leahurst last week following back surgery 🧡

1 week post surgery today and the dressing is off - how neat is this 🪡

He has had;
- Ligament desmotomy T12-T17 (ligaments in between these vertebrae have been cut to relieve tension and allow the spinous processes to move apart)
- Bone ostectomy T15-T16 (bone has been shaved from these vertebrae to open up a space between them to prevent them rubbing together)

🧵 His stitches will be removed in a weeks time

💉 ALPHA-2 INJECTIONS (A*M) 💉
An alternative to steroids!!

A*M is a natural, drug free anti inflammatory with no long term risks, safe for laminitics or EMS prone horses/ponies

🌟 Useful for
- osteoarthritis
- joint degeneration/inflammation
- tendon/ligament injuries
- airway inflammation

🩸 Procedure: Undertaken by Vet - A small amount of your horse's blood is drawn, spun in a special machine to isolate and concentrate the A*M protein. It is then injected into the affected area 🩸

❄️ Excess A*M can be frozen and stored with your vets for up to 12 months for future use

The X-rays 🩻 below show a 24yo pony with pastern OA. Her owners were concerned they couldn’t treat her with steroids as she has EMS but now A*M is an options she has been medicated!!! We hope this has made her more comfortable 🥰

(This is an informative post and is a procedure carried by your Vet)

🤩 This is the same bottom approximately 3 years apart!! 🤩

This horse is proof that with the correct veterinary intervention, physiotherapy and a whole lot of hard work it is possible to build strength and improve muscle 💪

Huge credit to the team at Shaw Farm Equestrian 🧡 and thank you for choosing me to be a part of this boys journey.

(We know he’s not perfect but the difference is too good not to share)

🩹 Annular ligaments are something I have discussed previously (see posts below👇)

These scans show the difference clearly between the ‘normal’ annular ligament (right) and the thickened ligament (left)
We believe the LF has undergone a trauma as there was a small lesion within the ligament itself also 🤕

📏 Measurements of the annular ligaments;
- Right 1.70mm
- Left 4.87mm

I have been treating the ligament with INDIBA 🪄 alongside box rest and some controlled hand walking and we are making visible improvements to the leg as shown in the comparison photo 📸 We are awaiting a further scan in a months time to see how it looks on the inside - keeping all fingers crossed 🤞

💉 ARTHRAMID 💉

One of our in house rehab horses has recently been medicated with Arthramid in his lower hocks joints, due to having arthritic changes and a small bone spur 💉

Arthramid is a gel like substance that integrates into the cartilage and membrane of the joints to help restore comfortable joint function ❤️‍🩹

🌟 Benefits;
- Non steroidal (no risks to laminitics)
- Long lasting (has been known to have effects for upto 1-2 years)
- Effective in 2-4 weeks
- Therapeutic - cushions the joint and helps provide joint stability
- Preventative - reduces inflammation in the joint and lessens the worsening of OA

🩻 The X-rays and medication of the joints were done on site at our yard by Gillivervet. We are always happy to arrange, and are available to attend these appointments so you don’t have to.

We have brought this horse slowly back into work after the injections and he already seems more comfortable 🖤

Pet Week at Nursery is definitely something we can join in with 🦄 They asked for photos 📸 of pets but we thought we’d go one better and volunteered Sparky to go in and meet all the children 🥰 He was stroked/patted by over 50 little people, he thought it was brilliant 🤩!!!!

Theo was very confused as to why Sparky was in the playground 🤣
