✨ Dressage & Pole Work Month at Lancing Equestrian ✨
January is our annual reset — a month dedicated to dressage, pole work, and horse welfare 🐴💙

Each year we step back from jumping to give our wonderful ponies and horses a well-earned break from fences. This allows us to focus on supportive, correct schooling, helping them stay comfortable, confident, and physically prepared as we head into February and the upcoming BHS Championship qualifying rounds.

For riders, this month is all about developing accuracy, rhythm, balance, and harmony — key ingredients for success in the dressage phase of the BHS competitions. The work we do now plays a huge role in setting you and your horse up to perform at your best when it matters most.

With plenty of E-Rider dressage classes to get involved in, we love watching your confidence grow and seeing those rosettes come in 🎀✨

January is officially Dressage & Pole Work Month at Lancing Equestrian 💫🐴

Each year, we dedicate one special month to dressage for an important reason — our horses’ welfare 💙
Giving our wonderful ponies and horses a break from jumping allows them a month off from teaching riders over fences, while we focus on supportive, confidence-building schooling. This helps ensure they’re comfortable, confident, and feeling their best, ready for February and the BHS qualification rounds.

This month we’re all about:
💎 Improving technique
💎 Developing rhythm and balance
💎 Strengthening the rider–horse connection

🌟 Coach’s Choice Award – Dressage 🌟

The Coach’s Choice Award celebrates a rider who shows dedication, commitment, and consistent progression, while building a genuine partnership with their pony. This award recognises those who quietly put in the work, listen to feedback, and strive for personal excellence every time they ride.

This year, we’ve seen outstanding focus and determination in dressage. Through private lessons and careful preparation, this rider has dedicated herself to learning and refining dressage tests, producing consistently strong results. With many marks of 7 and test scores in the high 60% range and above, her hard work has truly paid off.

It’s been wonderful to watch the partnership grow with her favourite pony, Cookie, and see both rider and pony gain the recognition they deserve.

The Coach’s Choice Jumping Award recognises a rider who combines a genuine love for jumping with the dedication to build strong flatwork foundations. This award celebrates perseverance, confidence, and a willingness to challenge oneself.

This year, we’ve seen huge growth through commitment and determination. From loaning Ary, joining Friday Night Jump Club, and riding a variety of horses, this rider has embraced every opportunity. Through quiet determination, her confidence and jumping ability have developed enormously, making this award very well deserved.
