Leading veterinary and welfare bodies are concerned by the alarming rise in ear-cropped dogs in the UK. Ear cropping is illegal in the UK and an unnecessary, painful mutilation with no welfare benefit. The practice involves cutting off part of the ear flap, often without anaesthesia or pain relief.

There are a group of people collecting pet food packaging and a host of other recyclable items that normally go in our grey bins - sweet wrappers, contact lens packaging, bathroom products to name a few. It is sent to a company called Terracycle (terracycle.com). All the information about what they are collecting is on the ‘Nextdoor’ community website, but one of the drop-off sites is 14 Shireshead Crescent in Hala. I will be collecting pet food packaging when I am feeding my clients pets and if you don’t have transport am happy to collect from you any you collect between the times I feed your pets, as long as you have rinsed them first!

It is with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to Libby on 17th October. She was 16 and suffering from kidney disease. A rescue from Animal Care in 2004, she had been a very fit and active little lady until recently, always up for as many walks as were on offer, searching in the hedges and brambles for anything to chase. Hope you enjoy these photos from when she was in her prime and a more recent one.
