Woooow 🤯🤩 what an awesome 3 days with hosted by 👏🏼
I was well & truly in spectator mode, hence the Crocs, but a huge thanks to for trusting me with the fabulous Molly and allowing me to have a go handling an experienced, operational Spaniel.
As I didn't have my gang with me, I was able to fully focus on the geeky stuff and soak up tons of new knowledge, I can't wait to put this into practice and return to next year's workshop with Rumble in tow.
Thanks to Wesley for all of the amazing input and making me feel involved despite not having a dog with me, to James for being an epic host and to the whole group for being so kind, open and helpful - the perfect learning environment, I'm already looking forward to 2026! 🐾

We tried something new on Saturday.. We had a intro session hosted by Lancashire trainer, Lisa, of 🐾
This is described as a blend of trailing & tracking and the dogs follow an Aniseed scent.
Of course Rumble had drive drive drive and just wanted to work again rather than have any other kind of reward. Lots of potential there, we'll just be trying to keep arousal levels as contained as possible.. easier said than done with a young Mali Shepherd 🥲

This isn't even a boast post, it's an absolute fluke 😆
We've trained all year for hoopers but as there aren't any shows near us this Winter, we entered a KC agility show for old times' sake. I wasn't expecting anything at all as we're so out of practice but we only went & won every class!
There were some sneaky little bits in the courses, the height we sat & watched only had 2 dogs out of 18 run clear so that didn't give me anymore hope but I do think taking the pressure off helps, I always say a break in training is GOOD and the little boy did awesome.
He picked up faults in each run by missing his first weave entries but got them on 2nd or 3rd attempt. This was never a concern going into it as he can do them with ease but the thing I was worried about, his jumping style, was totally fine and he didn't have any poles down all day. Just shows you never know what you're going to get on the day, no matter how much you do OR don't train so just enjoy the moment! 🙃

Still over the moon from our trailing weekender 🤩 It was so interesting to see how differently Nara was working because of the distance, distractions, contamination & weather conditions. There were so many busy road crossings which she aced, previously having to stop & wait would have really frustrated her but we had no barking at all. She also recovered quickly from a big adrenaline spike after bumping into a squirrel and dealt amazingly with so many people including a running club, children with bikes & scooters, dogs and open shop doorways.
I'm not personally interested in doing the formal assessments so workshops like this are great to recognise & remember just how far we've come and to continue learning even more.

A dandelion! Must be the last one of the season 🌼

The British Ironwork Centre is super dog friendly, we've only been on weekdays but generally it's really cool for a lot of reactive dogs too as the outside space is large and so open. They're understandably not allowed inside on the carpeted areas, there's less space inside & there are lots of breakables around, but there is a dog friendly area of the cafe, outside under shelter. A fab day out!!

Another hydro session smashed today 🔥 I've really noticed a big difference in Nara's stamina lately, her overall fitness has really come on, she's lost fat and gained muscle and is able to do so much more for so much longer. When it comes to fitness & conditioning, it's generally a slow & steady progression but the results are really shining at the moment and she's performing so well in her sports too! ✨

Get a Spaniel and a 3.5 month old puppy to sit still.. together.. challenge accepted! 😆
Patience is key on all photoshoots, but especially with puppies, there are always lots of great learning experiences for them within the shoots and I love to make the most of them. These two made my job very easy though.

How long do we think it'll be until Woody is towering over Jax? 🤔🤔
