Some highlights from a very busy couple of weeks! 🐶🐾

We welcomed brothers Sid & Thor for their first walks, as well as Brae, a 6-month-old Collie pup who joined us for the first time — safe to say she had an absolute blast! 😁

Lots of happy faces, wagging tails and great walks all round!

Such a fun group today, with new boys Forrest and Finn settling in brilliantly and already making plenty of new pals. 🐶

To make things even more confusing, we’ve now got two Finns… and Jasper has found himself a twin too! 🤔😂

Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to over the past couple of weeks! 🐾

The hot weather meant we had to change things up a little, with early morning group walks, afternoon drop-ins and evening walks to make sure all the dogs stayed safe, comfortable and happy. ☀️

Bella’s 16-night home stay has now come to an end, and she was an absolute pleasure to look after. A huge thank you to her owners for trusting me to care for her while they were away. 😊🏡

A big welcome as well to Finn and Forrest, who both joined us for their first walks recently. Great to have them on board! 🐶

🎉 1 whole year in business! 🎉

I honestly can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I took my very first dog walk as The Dogfather - Dog Walking.

Starting this business was, without a doubt, the best decision I’ve ever made. It’s had its challenges along the way (including a few setbacks!), but every single one has been worth it to build something I’m truly passionate about.

A huge thank you to my partner, Stacy, my family and friends for all the support and encouragement from day one. I genuinely couldn’t have done it without you all.

To all of my amazing clients, thank you for trusting me not only with your pride and joy, but also with your homes during home stays. It means so much that you’ve put your trust in me, and I’ve been lucky enough to meet so many fantastic people over the last year.

And of course, the biggest thank you goes to all the amazing dogs I get to spend my days with. Whether we’re out on solo walks, group walks or enjoying a home stay, they make every day enjoyable and remind me why I love what I do.

Looking back over the last year, I’m really proud of how far The Dogfather has come, and I’m excited to see what the next year brings.

Worth a share…………

🐶USE US. DON’T LOSE US.🐶

One thing we’d love more pet owners to understand during a heatwave is this.

When we cancel because of extreme temperatures, we’re not having a day off.

We’re losing income.

Most professional pet carers are self-employed. We don’t receive holiday pay, sick pay or a guaranteed salary at the end of the month. If we don’t work, we don’t get paid.

Every cancelled walk, training session or visit has a financial impact.

And this isn’t just one hot afternoon.

Many of us are now dealing with repeated heatwaves and some of the hottest, longest periods of extreme heat we’ve experienced in our working lives. Week after week, bookings are cancelled, diaries are rearranged and income falls, while our mortgages, rent, insurance, vehicle costs and business bills remain exactly the same.

Despite that, we’ll continue to make the same decision every time.

Because our first responsibility is the welfare of the animals in our care.

A postponed walk can be rearranged.

Heatstroke doesn’t always give your dog a second chance.

So, if your usual service isn’t safe, please don’t assume we can’t help.

Instead of cancelling altogether, ask whether your booking can be adapted.

That might mean:
• A home welfare visit
• Toilet breaks
• Feeding and companionship
• Garden enrichment and play
• Medication administration
• An early morning or late evening walk where conditions are safe

You’ll still receive professional care.

Your pet stays safe.

And you’ll be helping a local small business survive another week of extreme weather.

Use us. Don’t lose us.

The service may look different for a few days, but our commitment to your pet never changes.

Thank you to every client who understands that responsible pet care sometimes means changing the plan, not abandoning it.

We’ve managed to get out for some group walks when it’s not been too warm — don’t get to say that very often in Scotland! 😅☀️

Bella has been such a good and happy girl. She’s been loving tagging along with the groups and spending time with her new pals 😊🐶
