From monitoring anaesthetics and caring for hospital patients, to running clinics and supporting procedures, our nursing team is vital in every part of what we do at Northvet.

Their empathy, compassion, knowledge and dedication help animals feel safe and cared for when they need it most.

This month is all about recognising the skill, professionalism and heart that veterinary nurses bring to the profession every day 🌟

🐄 Cows are now back out grazing in the fields, so please remember to keep dogs on a lead around livestock and always pick up after them. 🐶

Dog fouling can carry Neospora, a parasite that can cause serious illness and abortions in cattle, leading to devastating losses for farmers. Even healthy dogs can carry it without showing symptoms.

Please help protect livestock, wildlife and our farming community by:
• Keeping dogs under close control around fields with cows and calves
• Always using a lead near livestock
• Picking up and properly disposing of dog waste

Thank you for being responsible dog owners and helping keep everyone safe. 🙏

Look out, look out, Nematodirus is about!

Nematodirus has now been detected in Orkney, so conditions are right for risk.

Nematodirosis can strike fast in young lambs and because early stages do not produce eggs, faecal egg counts will not reliably indicate danger.

Use the SCOPS forecast alongside your own risk assessment to stay ahead.

👉 Are lambs grazing last year’s lamb fields?
👉 Are they 6-12 weeks old or grazing early?
👉 Are there added pressures like poor milk supply or coccidiosis?

Tony, one of our former large animal vets, is currently taking on an incredible challenge to raise money for Prostate Scotland.

Alongside two pals, he is cycling all the way from Land’s End to John O’Groats, over 19 days! 🚴‍♂️ Not an easy feat, due to finish this Thursday!

This is all in support of a cause that affects so many lives, raising both funds and awareness for prostate cancer.

Let's get behind our friend and show our support, every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.

Update: Coco is home 💞

Missing Cat - Please Share

Coco (11 months old) has been missing from Petticoat Lane (near Scorradale, Orphir).

She is very friendly but can be a little timid, especially if approached quickly.
If you spot her, please try to approach calmly, she may come to you for food (she is particularly fond of cheese!).

If you have any information or sightings, please call 07713 325173.

Thank you for your help 💚
