🐈 Oscar's Surgery Day 🐈

This is Oscar, he is a Maine C**n and he was visiting the practice recently to be neutered. He was a bit nervous to leave his carrier when he first arrived but soon relaxed and enjoyed some ear scratches after his surgery.

We were proud to support the 2026 Queensferry Care Charity Golf Tournament, held in partnership with Rotary South Queensferry at Dundas Parks Golf Club. ⛳☀️
It’s fantastic to see such an amazing community event raise an incredible £3,381 through sponsorships, donations, team entries and the raffle.
Queensferry Care does wonderful work supporting older people in the local community through services including Day Opportunities, Lunch & Supper Clubs, Driving Services, Garden Tidy Services and their Volunteer Hub, so we were delighted to play a small part in helping support this important fundraising event.
A huge well done to everyone involved, especially the organisers, volunteers, sponsors and all the teams who took part on the day.
Congratulations also to Ferryburn Pharmacy for winning the tournament, and to LC Gals for becoming the very first recipients of the Lady Lydia Memorial Cup. 👏
Thank you to Queensferry Care and Rotary South Queensferry for organising such a successful and enjoyable event — we’re already looking forward to next year!

☀️HOT WEATHER INCOMING☀️
(Or so we are told but hey this is Scotland so who knows)

Keep your dog safe on hot days by adjusting your daily routine. Limit exercise to the early mornings or late evenings, and test pavements with your bare hand for 5 seconds—if it's too hot for your skin, it will burn their paws. Provide constant access to shade and fresh water.

Recognizing and Treating Heatstroke

Heatstroke is a life-threatening emergency. High-risk dogs include flat-faced breeds, elderly dogs, and those that are overweight or have thick coats.
Key Symptoms:
Heavy, continuous panting or labored breathingBright red or dark pink gums and tongueLethargy, stumbling, or sudden uncoordinated movements
Excessive drooling or vomiting
Emergency Steps:
Move your dog to a shaded, cool area with good airflow.
Contact your vet immediately.
Wet their coat with cool (not freezing) water. Do not cover a hot dog in wet towels, as this traps dangerous body heat.Offer small amounts of cool water to drink.

Ways to Keep Them Cool
Frozen Treats:
Stuff hollow toys (like Kongs) with wet food or dog-safe peanut butter and freeze them. You can also make DIY bone broth ice cubes.
Paddling Pools & Sprinklers:
Set up a shallow splash pool or a low-pressure dog-friendly sprinkler in the garden.
Cooling Vests & Mats:
Use Cooling Vests or cooling mats to help reduce their core temperature.
Grooming:
Regular brushing helps remove dead, thick undercoats that trap heat.

Elijah and Klause's Surgery Day

This is Elijah and Klause, they are two ferret brothers, who visited the practice recently to be neutered. In these pictures, they are both feeling a bit drowsy while recovering from their anaesthetic but they were soon back to their normal selves and scurrying around in no time.
