Today’s adorable patients were Hugi and Loki 😻 this cheeky pair were in to be castrated. Meaning when they are older they won’t feel the need to wander far from home for females and reduces cancer risks. Can anyone guess their breed? 🐱 ❤️

Puppy galore here at Alphavet right now😍
Vet Emma has got herself this lovely little Springer Spaniel, Winnie. Emma’s two daughters absolutely adore her and Em is just besotted with her. She is settling in well and just so pretty!
As you can see, her first day at work has gone well so far and she is very relaxed 🥰🐶
We can’t wait to watch her grow up🐾🩷

Have you recently moved house or changed your personal details? 🏠 On make sure your information is up to date on your cat's microchip.

Unfortunately, many cats can't be reunited with their owners due to contact details being out of date. Updating your cat's microchip details is an easy process.

✅ Find out your cat’s microchip number. Keep your cat’s microchip number stored away so you can have it to hand. Not sure what it might be? Call your vet to see if they have it in their records, or take your cat to the vet to have them scanned.

✅ Confirm your cat's microchip database. Lost your original paperwork? You may be able to check which database your cat is registered with by entering their microchip number into the identi look-up tool.

✅ Update your details. Now that you have your cat’s number and contact information of the database, call them or go to their website to change your address or phone number.

Wellness Screening for cats and dogs 🐱🐶

Helping adult pets to live longer, happier and healthier lives. Pets age around seven times faster than humans and as they do, they become more susceptible to a variety of health conditions.

A wellness screening is a comprehensive medical MOT for your cat or dog that can detect health issues and help to give you peace of mind about your pet’s health and wellbeing.

Your pet will receive a detailed health check by one of our trained veterinary nurses and they can also give tailored lifestyle advice.

We’ve partnered with RSVP, a trusted call centre team. This service will be reaching out to you on our behalf to offer convenient booking options for your pet’s wellness screening. You’ll receive a friendly reminder call, so you can easily schedule an appointment at a time that suits you best! 🗓️

Hello May! ☺️

May is an important month to us as it is Veterinary Nursing Awareness month. Each year the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) dedicate a month to raising awareness about the Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) role in practice.

This year marks 60 years since the BVNA was founded. There has been vast progression in the RVN role during this time. To celebrate its 60th Diamond year, we are celebrating
all the ‘Diamonds’ we have in our practice! 🩷

We are expecting some warmer weather this week ☀️

Heatstroke is more common in pets than we’d like it to be. So in order to keep them happy and healthy, make sure you’re aware of the risk of heatstroke.

Symptoms of heatstroke can include:
➡️ Fast, heavy breathing or panting
➡️ A bright red tongue
➡️ Sticky gums
➡️ Excessive drooling
➡️ Vomiting
➡️ Pressing their head to the wall
➡️ Circling
➡️ General restlessness
➡️ Dizziness – they may appear lethargic, drowsy or slow

How to keep your dog cool on hot days

🐾 Restrict exercise
🐾 Never leave your pet in a car or hot room
🐾 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
🐾 Ensure drinking water and a cool, shaded spot is always available

If you're worried your pet might be suffering from heat stroke, please call your vet immediately❗️

Don't forget to drop off your empty blister packs and medication for recycling and safe disposal.

This handsome boy is excited to go exploring in the woods today while his human collects any rubbish left along the path! What are you and your furry friend up to today?🌍🐾
