Hopton Rehab & Homing Centre Reg. Charity No. 1173847

Hopton Rehab & Homing Centre Reg. Charity No. 1173847 a Charity that provides a safe haven, solutions and stability for horses and humans through times of change

Hopton Rehab & Homing Centre was established in July 2017. The trustees and staff are all extremely experienced in the equestrian industry and all have a shared passion for horse welfare and rehabilitation. Horses that need extensive rehabilitation both physically and mentally are allowed time and space to recover and the charity has built a great reputation for a sympathetic approach, which allow

s the horses to adjust and develop. If you would like to know more about the charity and what we do, please visit our website at www.hoptonrehabhoming.org or email us at [email protected]

NATIONAL RACEHORSE WEEK
We thought as it is National Racehorse Week we would give you some background on our retired racehorses we have to rehome.

Roxyana
DOB: 08.04.2016
Sire Most Improved
Dam; Katess

Roxyana has 2 starts in 2021 only placing once but she decided racing wasn’t really her cup of tea. As a princess she is far more suited to hacking and riding club activities. She would love a lightweight experienced rider who is used to TB’s. She moves really well and would do well at Racehorse to Riding Horse competitions. She is lovely on the ground and well mannered. She has been out to a couple of shows this year. She would love to be pampered and loved.

Golan Dancer
DOB: 30.03.08
Sire Golan
Dam Seductive Dancer.
Golan Dancer raced between 2013 and 2017; He was tried over various distances over jumps but didn’t really find his trip. Tom Scudamore and Bryony Frost had the ride a few times. He was placed in quite a few races but never got first past the post. He won over £11,000 in prize money. In 2017/18 He was trained by Nicki Frost and ridden in Pt-to-Pt in Devon, Racing on the iconic Flete House Course where some of International Velvet was filmed.
He is a funny boy not overly interested in human contact unless he is in the mood. He was retired because of pain related behaviour. He is comical when he drinks as he leaves his tongue out for a while. He would love a home with another gelding, where he can live out his life peacefully. He is approx 16.2hh.

Sampson at 34 years old. He is our most pampered precious teddy bear. Who could resist that little face.

Busy morning at the yard. Farrier comes every fortnight to ensure all the horses get the very best footcare.

Always sad to lose one whatever the reason. Sad times 💙

Always sad to lose one whatever the reason. Sad times 💙

We have some really sad news to share with you tonight. Today Sam aged 7 was put to sleep after battling an illness since November. We were hopeful in the spring that the situation was improving but sadly he began to detoriate and we had to do the kindest thing for him.

He was originally a working stallion and arrived with us 2 years ago having been recently castrated with the reputation of being nasty and unmanageable. This couldn't have been further from the truth. Whilst he did enjoy showing us the occasional bit of spirit he had the kindest heart and was loved by all that met him.

He attended numerous events as part of the team including weddings, funerals, shows and ploughing competitions and had become a shire that we knew we could rely on.

He will leave a very big hole in the Gentle Giants team 💔
