✨️ FEEL GOOD FRIDAY ✨️

Next week, our nurse Beth is travelling to Manchester to compete in a HYROX women's doubles. Her Partner is Lowri, the daughter of the late Russell Davies, Hill farm, Presteigne.

HYROX is a fitness event consisting of a 1km run followed by an exercise, repeated 8 times.

The girls are competing in memory of their dad's, Alan and Russell for the Intensive Care Unit at Hereford Hospital. This where both of their wonderful Dads received the most incredible care.

The AVP team wish Beth and Lowri all the very best!

***Concerning Bluetongue Update***

2 more new cases of Bluetongue have been confirmed in Wales tonight. One near Llangammarch Wells and one near Gladestry. Please be vigilant and contact the surgery if concerned. Further information & updates can be found at www.gov.wales/bluetongue and www.gov.uk/bluetongue

🩼Vaccination remains key to protecting your livestock. Vets & farmers in the East of the country reported barren rates of 20% in cattle & sheep on farms affected with Bluetongue last year in addition to clinical cases, abortions and dummy calves.

*****BLUETONGUE *****

It has just been announced that the first 2 cases have been confirmed in Wales - a beef fattening unit in PRESTEIGNE & a suckler herd in Chepstow. There have been 30 new cases confirmed in the last week with the total number of cases now totaling 78 across the country.

Vaccination still remains the best way to protect your livestock. Sheep only require one injection while cattle need two, 3 weeks apart. There is no difficulty sourcing vaccine, with good supplies. Contact the surgery to discuss with one vets if concerned or want more information.
Remember, Bluetongue is a notifiable disease.

A new window for Welsh farmers to report possible infections of scab will commence on 1 October 2025.
