We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate day care assistant to provide exceptional care for pets whilst in our care. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine love for animals and the ability to ensure their well-being in a safe and nurturing environment. This role requires someone who is reliable, attentive, and capable of handling various pet-related tasks, including those that may involve heavy lifting.

Duties
•Provide daily care for pets, including feeding, walking, cleaning and providing enrichment activities for dogs.
•Maintain a clean and safe environment for the pets in our care.
•Monitor the health and behaviour of pets, reporting any concerns to the owner promptly.
•Engage with pets through playtime and exercise to promote their physical and mental well-being.

Requirements
•Proven experience in animal care settings is highly desirable, but not essential
•Ability to perform heavy lifting when required, such as moving large bags of pet food or assisting larger animals.
•A genuine passion for animals and a commitment to providing high-quality care.
•Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the varying needs of pet owners.

Hello everyone hope you’re all well.
Just wanted to let you know of some time off I have this year.

I finish work Friday 27th June for my wedding on Saturday 28th June and I’ll be back at work Saturday 5th July.

I finish work Thursday 31st July for my family holiday and back to work Thursday 14th august.

I will hopefully be able to work some extra days on the run up to my time off.

Let’s talk about matts!

A lot of groomers get stick and complaints when we have to shave a dog down due to matting, and we get blamed for being “lazy” and taking the “easy” option.

Let me tell you, when we have a dog that comes in with matts we go through every option possible before we make the decision to shave them short aka scalped (we hate that word)
- Can these be brushed out or is there too many?
- will it cause the dog too much discomfort or create a negative relationship with me, and their grooming environment.
- Can I just shave the matts and blend the rest of the hair?
- Can a longer blade get through them?
- Wash and blast before hand to try and bring them away from the skin.

At the end of the day we choose humanity before vanity, brushing out the odd matt can be done but when they have them in multiple places over the body it is very painful for the dog.

We have heard all the excuses as to why a dog is matted, they went out in the rain, been at kennels, went to the beach etc etc sadly the result is the same. We can’t undo 6/8/10 weeks of no brushing in a 2 hour grooming appointment and frankly that’s not fair on the dog.

We train for years and practice every day, we pay lots of money for good equipment and decent products the last thing we want to do is shave your dog. This doesn’t show our training, skills and hours and hours of experience. Your dog is a walking advertisement for our business, so having to shave them is the absolute last thing we want to do.

So please if your dog is matted and has to be shaved for their benefit please don’t be quick to judge and “blame” your groomer.
