Meet the team Monday 😍🙌

Today we'll introduce our full-time receptionist, Lucy who enjoys spending time with friends and family and pet sitting for their furry friends. 🐶🐱 At work, she enjoys meeting our clients pets and has a particular soft spot for French Bulldogs and Border Terriers. 🐾

😻Today is take your cat to the vet day 🩺

We understand cats can find vet visits scary and stressful, but they are an important step to keeping them happy and healthy. Here's some ways we can try and reduce stress for our feline patients:

✅ Get them used to the pet carrier, keep it out at home with the door removed and a comfy blanket so cats can come and go as they please
✅ Use pheromone or calming sprays, we use Pet Remedy plug in and sprays in our practice. We also have blankets on reception pre-sprayed which you are welcome to cover your cat carrier whilst in the practice for extra comfort
✅ Unfortunately, we don't have space for a separate dog & cat waiting area but we try and split them as much as possible and on our operation days we offer separate dog and cat days so cats aren't stressed by the sounds and smells of unfamiliar dogs

🌱 We've seen a few grass seed injuries recently so be mindful when walking your dog 🐾

Grass seeds can become stuck in dogs paws or ears as they are pointed and sharp, this causes a lot of pain and swelling and they can even work their way under the skin.

❌ Avoid walking in areas with visible grass seeds
✅ Check your dogs paws, armpits, ears and eyes after a walk in long grass or woodland areas and brush away any seeds
✅ Keep long haired dogs well groomed/trimmed - especially around the face and paws
✅ Contact your vet immediately if you see any signs of potential grass seed injury - the dog may be licking the paw and limping, shaking the head and scratching at the face depending on the location. You may also see swelling and redness

😍 Todays meet the team Monday we'll be introducing you to our RVN Megan 🙌

Megan joined us after working in a busy referral centre so she has wide a range of experience, here with us she has a particular interest in cats and reducing stress during veterinary visits. Whilst not in practice, she enjoys caring for her rescue cat Binx and travelling around the world where she has visited many destinations 🐱🌎✈

Meet the team Monday 😍 Let's introduce some of our team members over the coming Mondays 🙌

Lizzie is one of our receptionists, working part-time following her return from maternity leave. She shares her home with a tabby cat called Mouse, 2 rabbits named Jake and Fern, 2 guinea pigs named Robyn and Wren and 2 giant African land snails 🐱🐰🐹🐌 Alongside spending time with her furry family, she enjoys walks and outdoor activities with her 2.5 year old daughter and sea/wild swimming 🌊 She is on hand at reception to answer your phone calls and meet and greet our patients 🙂

Meet one of our more unusual patients, Roamah a Sphynx cat 😻

This breed of cat is known to be affectionate and energetic, very social and intelligent. Don't let their lack of fur fool you into them being low maintenance, their skin needs extra care such as regular appropriate bathing and their skin can be easily damaged even by their own barbed tongue during self-grooming. So as always research any breed you may have a particular interest in.

Roamah here was a purrfect patient when it came to her first vaccination and her loving owner signed her up to our Medivet Healthcare Plan so we'll see lots of her as she grows and visits us for follow up vaccinations, microchipping, preventative flea and worm products and weight checks, which will also go down well on reception who enjoyed her cuddles 💕
