After catching up on some much needed sleep it's time to say so many 'Thank You's' to everyone who joined us for our Spring In Hand and Ridden Show - Sunshine Tour Qualifier yesterday!
We were incredibly lucky with the weather, with some much needed rain in the run up to the day, meaning the ground conditions were lovely and aside from the wind, we had beautiful sunshine all day long.
Our first 'Thank You' of course goes to all those who turned out to join us - those competing, the unpaid grooms, friends and supporters! We couldn't host these events without your continued support, and appreciate all the early mornings, high emotions, and efforts that go into show days! Everyone put so much effort into their presentation, and as always brought the energy and friendly spirit that we are lucky to have at CEC.
Thank You also to our wonderful judges - Laura Kenyon-brodie (In Hand) and Poppy Ronni Denton (Ridden) Both judges kept the rings running smoothly, and were complimented on the constructive feedback they gave their competitors. Always accommodating, professional and immaculately turned out - we cannot thank you enough for being such an integral part of the day!
A big shout out out the the CEC staff, Lucy Watson and Thea Hutton, who as always were jack of all trades on the day, assisting with the yard, stewarding and secretary duties, and being just general good eggs! Roped into afternoon stewarding duties, was the lovely, Katie Emmett who stepped in with a smile on her face to steward the In Hand Ring, and did a marvellous job in doing so! Also, a big thank you to my own son, Tom, who was up at the crack of dawn to help in the set up, running of the secretary box, and dismantling jobs at the end.
Craig Ellis Photography and Esme Wiles did a brilliant job covering both rings, barely getting time to stop all day, and certainly getting their steps in! Thank you so much - we cannot wait to see the photos!
Laura Lazenby at Food 4 U Catering kept our stomachs happy all day long, with plenty of hot drinks, bacon sarnies, hot dogs and more. A show day isn't a show day with our constant fuelling of food - thank you as always, Laura.
We would also like to say a heart felt thank you to everyone involved in helping with the incident in the lorry area involving the horse that had gone over the partition. Humberside Fire & Rescue Service attended the event very swiftly and professionally, and with the assistance of several key members on the ground, we are happy to say the horse was safely removed from the lorry. A check by the Rory at Malton Equine and a night at hotel CEC, and we are happy to report the horse is happy and doing well.
Our beautiful photos are of Stephanie Adele Duffin and her beautiful mare, Winnie, who was crowned Reserve In Hand Champion after a difficult year of rehab work, and Lisa Soanes and the very stunning, Rosie, who attended her very first show at 4 years old, to take In Hand Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion. Very well deserved!
The results of the show will be uploaded over the next day or two for those wanting to qualify for the Sunshine Tour Qualifiers - the first 4 placings qualify in the qualifying classes, and can't be passed down the line.
Thank you for a lovely first show of the season, and we hope to welcome you again soon,
Nikki
