This weekend you’ll find us at DogFest Harewood House for our first ever double stall at Dogfest after years of hard work. The truth is we want to be super excited but we are worried about the posts/ comments on social media and recent low turnouts 💕
We’re really hoping to see lots of friendly faces there both old and new!
With big festivals like this, the weather is always unpredictable. DogFest has faced both heatwaves and thunderstorms. While organisers can plan for a lot, the skies are out of anyone’s control. We hope for a perfect weather weekend 🙏
These events take a huge amount of work behind the scenes. With hundreds of traders and thousands of visitors, it’s never an easy job. Could situations on site and their public statements have been handled better? Absolutely! But when there's already negativity surrounding something it's easy to add fire to the flame.
As a small business, we’ve had our fair share of mishaps at other events, cancellations, extreme winds/ weather. These issues have been handled both better and worse, but the level of criticism DogFest received has been very intense. The truth is when events are boycotted, it’s not the organisers or sponsors who feel it most it’s small businesses like ours and others 💔 For some it's their first big show 💕
We’ve invested in our stall, travel, hotels, and poured love into every detail to make this event special. Low attendance doesn’t just affect a weekend it can really knock what we’re able to bring to our customers in the future and it can even finish some businesses off! 💙
Before I get eaten alive, I am not defending Dogfest's actions but I am asking people who have decided not to go to think about who they are actually hurting. So if you’re able, please come along, show support, shop small, and help us (and so many other amazing traders) make the most of this weekend!
For me, the shows are always about the dogs and humans attending the shows. Without you lot there is no show! 🙋♀️🐕💕
