Meet Ripley, the beautiful GSD 🐾
Ripley’s fabulous guardians have been working hard on her training lately, and in our last session we focused on taking a moment to just… pause and ponder.
Ripley can sometimes find the world a bit overwhelming — especially busy places, fast movements, or other dogs close by. So part of our work has been helping her not just cope, but feel safe. That’s where activities like this come in.
She enjoyed a lamb leg while lying in the grass, just watching the world go by. No cues, no pressure — just space to decompress.
These “pause and ponder” moments aren’t just feel-good fluff — they’re actually a powerful training tool. They help regulate Ripley’s nervous system, reduce stress buildup (known as trigger stacking), and create positive associations with the environment. Chewing, sniffing, and resting outdoors tap into her parasympathetic system — the body’s natural way of calming down after stress.
Sometimes, the most important training is what we don’t do.
Go Ripley, we’re so proud of you!! And huge well done to guardians Charley and Leo for all your hard work and dedication with Ripley’s training, your smashing it!!
