I don't even know where to start with this one.😭😭
As a lot of you are aware our week on the farm has been a little manic. With us welcoming a new calf into the world and both mum and little one doing great, we also lost a bull calf 😭 from our beautiful Rosie.
Rosie at the time was touch and go however the vet came down and things looked promising. However Thursday came and after all the medication she had had she still wasn't improving. She was drinking and eating but couldn't stand up. (We had hope still JUST) We had another vet come out who again was amazing with her but sadly there wasn't any more we could do for her. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her sleep and be in no more pain.
So at 8:45pm on Thursday 11th September I had to say my final goodbyes. I stayed with her for another 2 hours before I was able to leave, with very little sleep I carried on as usual for my own sanity.
Rosie started our journey in cattle farming with her pal Doris back in July 2023. Instantly we all fell in love with them and knew these girls were going to be more like pets then anything else. Rosie was a lot more reserved then Doris to begin with but her character certainly was larger than life. She did everything in her own time/pace, loved her food and loved a good head rub. When we got the 2 Dexter's (black ones) Rosie instantly took them under her wing. She sure was a mother in the making and what an amazing mamma she would have been given the chance.
Natures world is cruel sometimes. She gave us everything and more and when the time really came for us to help her the was nothing we could do that we hadn't tried already.
Thankfully I was given her ear tag so I can pop in a frame with a photo and have something little to remember her by.
As much as I can't see her in our fields no more she will always be with me.
I'm absolutely heartbroken to say R.I.P ROSIE 🌈 shine bright up there with your little man. We miss you so so much 💖
