Some very comfy bucks when I was handling them today 😅

Next week I will start going through applications. I know how many rats I'm wanting to keep so will be able to start allocating rats. I don't know exactly *which* ones I want to keep and this will probably not be decided for another few weeks.

As they're all pretty much the same colour with no markings, it's down to more specific things like temperament and type (e.g. body shape and ear shape) to help me decide and they need to get a bit bigger before I can be 100% sure!

My homing application form is now open:

If you have already applied for rats from me (I last opened the waiting list a couple of years ago) then you do not need to fill in the form again as I still have your details.

Next week I will be asking for people who I've accepted applications from if they are interested in rats from this current litter.

I will be at this show too - only 1.5 hours from Hull which is one of the closest to us!

Live In or around Yorkshire and fancy coming to a rat show?

There is a NFRS show in Sowood (between Halifax and Huddersfield way) on the 28th of March.

Rat shows are run by volunteers and this show is at risk of cancellation due nobody volunteering to help which worry’s me.

It should be a really nice friendly small show, I’m show sec (doing the paperwork) and I would like to build a friendly and vibrant Yorkshire rat community back up after loosing the Yorkshire Rat Club a few years ago. We are at real risk of loosing our local shows and that’s such a shame.

You don’t need rats from breeders, special rats or experience to come to a rat show or volunteer. You just need a free Saturday and a love for rats. fun fact is I won best pet at the first rat show I ever entered with a rescue buck named Buzz, he was a roan dumbo, classic pet shop colour!! I had no rats from breeders and it was the second show I ever went to. This was 11 years ago. I caught the bug and here I am years later.

Going somewhere new can be scary, but if any of you have ever met me or had rats before you know I’m a chatty person and always happy to meet new people. Come and hang out for the day.

This should be a perfect first show as it will be small and friendly. If you would like to find out more or ask questions about shows please message me 💖

It’s very not serious and of course winning is nice but it’s about spending a day with like minded people who also love rats.

Litter updates!

Unfortunately one of Talc's babies became FTT (failure to thrive) and died a couple of days ago - he was tiny and skinny compared to the rest (not just a runt).

But the rest of the babies are doing well. I moved 3 of the smallest babies from Tofu's huge litter of 15 to Talc's smaller litter of 7. So Tofu had 12 to feed and Talc 10. Which works out well as rats have 12 ni***es so the smallest from Tofu's litter had more of a chance to get some milk.

Overall they're all PEW. Talc' # babies have opened their eyes and are FAST haha. The 3 fosters are 3 days younger so haven't opened their eyes just yet. Talc's nest has 7 does (1 fostered doe) and 3 boys (2 fostered boys).

Tofu's litter had 4 does and 8 bucks. So annoying even split between the sexes which is quite good!

I will let everyone know when I'm looking to allocate homes for them. I know I have people on my waiting list who are interested and once they've been given a chance to show interest I'll open my waiting list again for people to apply.

Happy 2026 ❤️ Here's to more babies at Twin Squeaks and more lovely rats to squish and snuggle!
