I am posting this for a local lady. If you are interested please contact me for more details and no judgement please, this is a sad situation and negative comments are not nice or deserved.

Beautiful 9 month old Belgian Malinois in need of a new home and family.
Through no fault of her own Marnie needs a new home due to marital separation.
Marnie is a soft, gentle natured dog. She is friendly and always happy to say hello to humans and other dogs. She can be reactive and she needs a strong handler who will give her the exercise she needs and loves.
She is a beautiful girl and deserves a loving home 🐾

Percy is desperate for a new home. He is a fabulous dog but unfortunately will not tolerate the resident cats in his current home. No judgement please as it does happen, despite lots of effort. So no cats but he loves dogs and life in general. He is in South Devon so a visit can easily be arranged. Message me if you want to know more 🤞

A post that shouldn’t need writing.

This week, several of my clients have contacted me to say that their on-lead dogs have been ran at and attacked by off-lead dogs. Some of them have then been blamed by the person walking the off-lead dog. Many of my clients have nervous dogs, and their families have worked really hard to help them feel more confident in the outside world. Some also have pain issues and could be seriously hurt by a dog running over and knocking in to them.

One of these incidents involved an off-lead dog running across a busy main road and having a go at an on-lead dog, who was being walked on a pavement.

So often when this happens, people are met with abuse when they ask the person with the off-lead dog to recall them or regain control of them. Here are some details about dog law that you NEED to be aware of if your dog is off-lead.

1. Failing to have control over your dog is breaking the law. If you know that your dog does not have reliable recall then you should not let them off of their lead. You can use long lines in appropriate spaces, to allow them more freedom without them being completely off-lead.
2. If your dog is behaving dangerously in a public or private space and causing reasonable fear of harm, you are breaking the law.
3. Having your dog off-lead on a designated road is breaking the law (Road Traffic Act 1988).
4. Your local authority may have further bylaws stipulating lengths of leads required on pavements. For example, my local council stipulates that dogs should be on a lead of 1 metre on pavements.
5. Your dog should be on lead on Open Access Land between 1st March and 31st July regardless of if you can see livestock or not. This law got some traction in the media last month but is not new.

Everyone is entitled to an enjoyable time outside. It is nice to see your dog having time off lead but if you know that they behave in a way that could be harmful to other people and dogs, you need to keep them on a lead. It isn’t fair to blame on-lead dogs or say that they should “sort it out themselves” which is quite frankly, dangerous. You have no idea how hard somebody has worked to help that on-lead dog comfortable on their walks, emotionally or physically. You have no idea how much your dog could hurt the on-lead dog that they charge in to, and how that happening could result in the dog having to have reduced exercise and take increased pain relief. Just take accountability for the situation.

If your dog has reasonably reliable recall and isn’t antagonistic towards other dogs, but has the occasional wobble which you are working really hard to stop happening, this isn’t aimed at you! 😊 Sadly, there are folks out there who do know that their dog will run over and behave in a hostile manner towards other dogs, but instead of apologising at the time and learning from it, they blame the other person/dog. It is simply unfair.
Please also note that even if your not is not antagonistic towards other dogs or people, you should still be able to call them away, and it is still not advisable to let your dog run up to on-lead dogs. Everyone should be able to go outside without worry of being approached in an unwanted way.

For my overseas followers, please note I'm based in South West England, and I am referencing laws that apply to where I live.

Help keep our bees safe x

This is a dead honeybee. The pollen on her legs is from dandelions. Her tongue is sticking out due to what killed her that was on the dandelions.

It’s spring, dandelions are the bees first food. This bee is dead from w**d killer spread on what we see as w**ds, but what nature sees as food. Please don’t spray for w**ds until you see the blackberries blooming. In this area, w**ds, flowers and fruit trees are bees only source of food until middle of June. There are FAR more w**ds than flowers or fruit trees, so it's their only food source. No bees, no food crops for us and we all starve.

Due to a change in circumstances, I have 2 spaces on my social walk next Wednesday at 1pm. £10 per place.

✔️ Social walks are small group walks (max 6 dogs), on-lead, in an open enriching space.
✔️ Social walks are great for dogs that are building confidence, learning that dogs aren't always meet and greet opportunities, or just for controlled time around the others.
✔️ No greetings are permitted between dogs on the walks.
✔️ A one to one may be suggested if you haven't worked with me or a colleague before to see if the walks are suitable for your dog at the present time.
❌️ The walks are a safe space for the dogs and their families, so I don't suggest dogs come along if they won't be set up for success in the environment. The walks are pivotal for so many of the dogs increasing their confidence and I want to keep it this way.
❌️ The walks are not training walks where I am actively giving you training tips. I am managing dynamics between six dogs and watching body language closely. You are encouraged to use strategies provided during one to ones and I may made the odd suggestion of reinforcing your dog for something specific, but these don't substitute one to ones or assessments.
🐾 My aim is that the entire group has a nice time.
🐾 Existing clients are told when I think their dog is ready for these walks. If you are not an existing client then I will ask a series of questions about your dog before advising if I think they'd be alright to come for a trial walk. If the environment sounds tough for them then a one to one will be suggested first to give you skills and understanding.

So happy to share Nicola Poole’s new venture. She has helped me to achieve one of my life goals ,in reaching Everest Base Camp last year , and is now keeping this old body fit enough to reach Annapurna later this year. She is all about function and strength rather than kilos and inches and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

The lovely Sarah has asked me to share this for her. She will be very missed 😢

Anyone with a muzzle wearing dog fancy appearing in a book????

Changing the Narrative on Muzzled Dogs!

Muzzles are a sign of responsible ownership, not something to fear. Yet, they’re still misunderstood by the public. It’s time to change that.

✨ Muzzled & Misunderstood is a ground breaking book celebrating muzzled dogs and their amazing guardians. Created by photographer Diane Gollowitzer, this project will showcase stunning portraits of muzzled dogs enjoying life, paired with heartfelt letters from their humans. The goal is to challenge misconceptions, educate, and show that muzzled dogs can be happy, loved, and full of adventure!

You might know Diane as the official DogX photographer since the very first event (back when it didn’t even have a name!). Her dog Deedee was even a demo dog for Simone Müller last year! Now, she’s using her skills to give a voice to muzzled dogs everywhere.

How You Can Get Involved

If you have a muzzled dog or know clients who do, this is their chance to be part of something special! The book will highlight dogs from all backgrounds—whether they wear a muzzle for reactivity, predation, breed-specific legislation, vet visits, or anything in between.

● Do you know someone who would love to be featured? Share this signup form
with them! https://www.dogsinfocusphotography.com/muzzle-project-registration/
● Are you passionate about muzzle education? Follow along and help spread the message! Follow on Instagram or on Facebook

● Want to support the project? There will be a Kickstarter campaign in April when you can prepurchase the book.

Together, we can change the narrative around muzzled dogs and show the world that they are loved, happy, and just as deserving of respect.
