🐾☀️ Summer Heat & Dog Safety – How To Protect Your Pup!
The temperature is rising this bank holiday weekend - and with it, the health risks for our dogs!
Did you know they’re much worse at coping with heat than humans?
Here’s what to know:
📊 Our temperature chart reveals how hot is too hot for a dog walk - we recommend you save it for later, or share it with friends so more pet parents are aware!
💧 Hydration is key! Always carry enough fresh water for you AND your dog. Plus, avoid letting them drink from every puddle, pond, or lake - as blue-green algae can be deadly.
⏰ Timing is everything - it's best to go for walks at cooler times. Early morning and late evening are ideal.
🔥 Beware of hot asphalt – asphalt can heat up to over 60°C! Try testing it with the back of your hand: If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws.
🚗 Never leave your dog in the car - even in cooler temperatures, a car can become a death trap in minutes.
🧴 Don't forget your SPF - believe it or not, dogs can also get sunburn! Especially on sensitive areas like their nose, ears, or belly. Stock up on dog-friendly sunscreen.
