Not a horse to be seen on Day one of our penultimate 5 day course as our lovely group of guests learned falconry basics, handling, bird of prey psychology and how they work in relation to us

It’s a day for bargains
Anyone interested in doing a none mounted falconry experience here’s a chance to grab a bargin quickly

We have a lady who brought a discounted falconry experiences for 2 people , but very unfortunately when they were down her to use it first time the weather came in so they came down again but we had to cancel as we were in hot pursuit of Amethyst our sea eagle who was having big adventure
She has asked us if we could sell this on
So it’s a 4 hour falconry experience voucher, for two people for the bargin rate i £100 valid until the end of August
You would work with birds from Barnowl to White tailed sea eagle
This is an absolute bargin, only one available to the first taker (a voucher for 2 valid for 12 months would normally be £220)

It was lovely to see the parade of ex racehorses in new careers at Aintree before the grand national but it’s been quite an eye opener as we have contacted a lot of racecourses over the years offering displays, appearance et and have never had one response
It probably doesn’t help that Retraining of Racehorses once told us that Caymans was not what they wanted to show in a retrained race horse and they probably get a say in these things😢

We had a dismal first attempt last year with Lori the lump but are very tempted to have a second try for the flat race as this is is an extension of how we work some of our falcons
(We’d have a go at the hunt race but lack a rocrow and someone to fly it without crashing 😂)

We often get asked about why caymans lost his eye but we actually have two horses missing a right eye, the other being the rather wonderful Roy from British thoroughbred retraining centre
Well it’s time to come clean on this.
As falconers we are firm traditionalists and mounted falconry has a long history
Back in the days of Ghengis Kahn the final graduations for a falconry pony to prove its steadiness was to have its right eye ripped out by an eagle, a tradition we brought back with these two to show quite how amazing they are
