I’ve recently been asked why my home boarding costs £35 per 24 hours, and £43 at weekends and bank holidays, with the suggestion that it’s “too expensive” compared to Dog boarding in Kennels.
I thought I’d explain what that price actually covers. 💕
For starters, dogs stay in my home, they enjoy all the home comforts I offer. Have you considered the alternative option and what they offer?
🐾💷 £35 for 24-hour dog boarding… may sound like a lot? 💷🐾
I completely understand why people might think that. But when you break it down, it’s actually around £1.35 per hour before any expenses are taken off.
Home-from-home dog boarding is so much more than simply having a dog for a sleep over.
From that £35 I still have to pay for:
🐾 Cleaning products and laundry
🐾 Daily cleaning of my home, in the winter time this task is mammoth with muddy paw prints and mucky dogs.
Dog grooming is also something that is usually not considered, by the owner. I keep all of the dogs in my care clean and brushed every day, if they roll in poo, or a muddy puddle they get a warm bath or shower, and shampoo all Included in the price.
Then there is,
🐾 Heating, electricity, water and home maintenance
🐾 Garden and fencing upkeep
🐾 Food and treats (where provided)
🐾 Fuel, transport (including valeting), travel crates and van tax and insurance
🐾 Business insurance
🐾 Licensing costs daily admin tasks to comply with my license, training and business costs
🐾 Wear and tear on my home
🐾 Tax and National Insurance
And alongside all of that comes something you can’t put a price on…
❤️ Round-the-clock responsibility for every dog in my care
❤️ A safe, loving home-from-home environment
❤️ Love, patience and reassurance
❤️ Treating every dog as if they were my own.
The weekend is a time when most people like to go visit family or friends for the day, or go out for a meal in the evening, one might even go off for the weekend, somewhere nice to have a break. But I’m not able to do any of those things when I am caring for your dog, I must stay home, whilst the owners are enjoying their freedom to go where they please. That’s why a little extra for weekends and bank holidays goes a long way.
I absolutely love what I do, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. 🥰
So when you see £35 for 24-hour home boarding, remember you’re not just paying for a bed for the night—you’re paying for a safe, loving home-from-home experience, for your precious pet.
Personal walks twice a day to the park, woods or a beach, not a cold lonely kennel, shut away only to be let out into a paddock or field for 20 minutes with little or no stimulation. That £35 buys your Dog personalised care other friendly dogs to play and sleep with and an abundance of love and attention from me and my husband from the moment your dog arrives until they head home. 🐾❤️
Home boarding isn’t for everyone, and neither are kennels.
Every owner chooses what they feel is best for their dog, and I completely respect that.
My pricing simply reflects the level of care, responsibility and personalised service that I provide.
Thank you to every family who trusts me with their precious dogs. It truly means the world to me. 🐶💕
