I’m very proud to announce that Josie has been nominated for the 2026 High Achievement Awards in the Unsung Hero category.

Josie is so deserving of this nomination. She has an incredible work ethic, is always so supportive of the business, and consistently goes above and beyond what any employer could expect.

All of our four-legged customers are treated with such care, love, and respect — exactly as they deserve. And I know that you, our wonderful customers, think the world of Josie too!

I honestly couldn’t ask for anyone better to work alongside. She’s kind, thoughtful, funny, and shares the same love and passion for the job that i do.

I’ll keep you all updated with any more news.

Good luck, Josie — although you’re already a winner in our eyes!!

Today was a whole day of learning, as CK9 hosted the Canine Health & First-Aid course, ran be the incredibly knowledgeable veterinary surgeon, Sophie Bell.

Josie, Lisa and myself have now updated our canine first aid certificates as did many other local professionals. We take the care and responsibility of the dogs we groom very serious and keeping up to date on such matters is essential when looking after your pups.

I also found the course incredibly useful as a pet owner too! For that reason I plan to have Sophie return next year, and will share with you all at the time.

🎉25 Years of CK9 🎉

Today marks 25 years since I opened the doors to my little salon on Norfolk Street… and I honestly can’t believe how quickly the time has passed.

I was just 24 years old when my very first client walked through the door. I had already spent eight years training and working as a dog groomer with the late Carol Flatt of Pets Paradise.

I was incredibly lucky to receive support from The Prince’s Trust — a small low-interest loan and a wonderful mentor, Phil Davies, who helped me turn a dream into reality.

With a tiny budget and an empty shop to transform, I called my DIY-loving dad. He and his wife Rita arrived with an ex-display bath, handmade dog pens, and plenty of wood and MDF. After a week of hard graft, my very own little salon was born.

There was no social media back then — just word of mouth, small adverts in the Lynn News, and the odd business cad in other shops.

After 18 months of trading, I was honoured to be nominated for The Prince’s Trust Small Business Awards. But the real success wasn’t awards — it was the amazing clients who supported me from the very beginning… many of whom I still see today, 25 years later.

Over the years, I’ve been lucky to work with many lovely people. Some joined part-time while at college, simply because they loved animals. Then along came Josie. She started with work experience, but I quickly saw something special — her work ethic, kindness, and genuine love for the dogs. Before her placement ended, I offered her a job… and thankfully she said yes.

Josie has helped shape CK9 into what it is today. She’s not just a colleague — she’s an essential part of the business and an amazing friend.

Our move to our bigger salon last year meant there was room for more like minded dog groomers. And we are so happy Kate and Lisa who share our same passion are now renting with us. Whilst independent businesses, we still make a great team!

And finally, this brings me to you — our clients.

You and your four-legged friends have become so much more than customers. Some of you I’ve known for almost 33 years, since the very start of my grooming career. I’ve watched your children grow up… and now some have children of their own. We’ve shared tears when beloved dogs have passed, and smiles when new puppies join your families.

We see many of you more often than we see our own relatives!

It’s because of YOU, your trust, and your loyalty that CK9 is still here 25 years on, doing what we love every single day.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

I haven’t had time to plan a big celebration, but a couple of our wonderful clients have kindly made some beautiful bandannas. From today, we’ll be gifting these to those booked in — while they last.

Here’s to 25 years… and to all the wagging tails still to come 🦮🐕‍🦺🐩🎉

Just an update and a thank you

All bookings up to the 18th of April have now been sorted, and then we’re off for a planned break until 28th April.

Following that, we’ll take things week by week, but unless you hear from us, your appointments will still stand as they are.

I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been so accommodating and supportive. One of our kindest customer even brought in homemade cake (which was delicious!), we’ve had offers to help in the salon, and people reaching out to say they’re happy to move appointments or go with our lovely ladies that rent with us, Trim And Tidy Dog Grooming & KW dog grooming

Which brings me to thanking our amazing dog groomer friends. Lisa and Kate have done more than their share helping me with the day-to-day running of the salon. And three fabulous dog groomers have/are helping on some days by bathing and assisting — Amber fentonsdoggrooms, Lisa Trim And Tidy Dog Grooming and Jade Tailored Trims Dog Grooming — I owe you big time!

Also Tara Paws Grooming Parlour, Gaywood And West Winch & Mandy maisiemoosgrooming , thank you for reaching out — you’re a very special bunch of ladies.

Difficult times really do make you appreciate the good around & we are incredibly grateful.

Important Customer Notice

Some of you may already be aware that Josie is having to take some time off. At the moment, we’re unsure how long she’ll need. As much as our clients mean the world to us, Josie is my priority right now. I will state Josie is NOT unwell herself & will return.

We are currently booked out for several weeks, but I’m doing my very best to manage appointments during this time. I’ll be working on my days off, and I’m incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive dog grooming community around us. Because of this, you may see the occasional new face in the salon. I want to reassure you that anyone helping during this period will be experienced. I will still be the one trimming your dogs, but someone else may assist with check-ins, bathing, drying, and collection.

Another option I may offer is passing you over to Lisa or Kate, who both rent tables with me at CK9. I can only groom so many dogs myself, but I can confidently say your pups would be in very kind and capable hands with both of these lovely ladies.

We’ll be taking things week by week. However, if you have an upcoming appointment and feel your dog could comfortably wait until their next groom, as was done during Covid, please feel free to reach out. This would really help me during this time.

I always say it, but we truly do have the best clients. I know how much you all care for Josie, just as I do. I kindly ask that you respect her privacy while she takes the time she needs.

Thank you so much in advance for your understanding and support, Cathy
