🔥 🌞 HOT WEATHER UPDATE 🌞 🔥

Just a friendly reminder that with the warmer temperatures, adjustments to walks continue to be necessary to keep all doggos safe.

This might mean losing a little bit of convenience that the usual schedule brings, as walks have and will be brought forward and shortened on hotter days. They may even be cancelled completely.

Heatstroke happens quickly and is incredibly dangerous. We will never put any dog at risk for the sake of a walk.

Some of the changes that have been put in place already include:

- Bringing walks forward to earlier in the morning and reducing duration if necessary

- Opting for areas with natural shade and fresh water sources

- Reducing travelling time and combining dogs who are calmer together

- Slowing the pace and taking regular breaks

Afternoon walks have been postponed until it cools down. Drop in visits and daycare continue to replace these walks and are limited so please book in advance!

If in any doubt about why this approach is important, please remember that dogs heat up quickly when playing with their pals and they aren’t usually too sensible about their own wellbeing! They’re just having too much fun.

Feel free to get in contact if you have any questions.

Stay safe and enjoy the glorious sunshine ☀️ 🐕

🎂 Happy 9th Birthday to Angus 🎂

Cool little cucumber Angus has only been with us for a few weeks and has not long landed in his new town but you’d never guess it. He’s taking it all in his stride 😎

It’s a testament to how well cared for he is by his lovely owner that he’s been able to go with the flow like he has 👏

What a superstar 🌟

No dog should ever approach another dog...

I've posted some content recently as I have been out and about in the city.

In Glasgow, we are fortunate to have public parks where our dogs can be off lead. The legislation states they need to be under appropriate control. In order to help Sonny get there (he's very friendly sometimes overly friendly) i put him in situations where I can both work on our goals and keep everyone else as safe as possible (again, he's very friendly to people and dogs).

Last week I posted a video with him and the little black and white dog, Frankie. As we walked across the park, I saw the dog. Sonny and Frankie had a conversation from around 10m away, then 5. I watched the conversation to determine what to do next. If I hadn't been happy, I'd have called him away.

I've now posted around 6 videos of similar interactions. The comments are interesting.

The word "should" is pretty irrelevant. What should or should kot happen is of little concern to me. What is of concern is what is happening.

Logan, my previous dog, did not like busy places. They stressed him. Constantly having to be on the alert for dogs and people getting too close was too much for him. Whether or not people "should" have had their dogs under better control wasn't relevant. I didn't take him to those places for his benefit and everyone else's.

Do you want people and dogs never to approach you and your dog? If so, buid the necessary skills in yourself and your dog. Examine why that's the case. Is that realistic?

Do you want your dog off lead? If so, build a solid recall abd practice EVERY time you are out.

Do you want off lead dogs never to approach your online dog? My suggestion would be to stop walking your dog in areas where there are off lead dogs.

Do you want your dog to be social with people and dogs? Recognise their social capabilities and prepare them (some dogs are more social than others).

If we are getting into problematic situations regularly and repeatedly, there's something wrong with what we are doing. It's about our dog's welfare, not our egos.

⭐️ Some remaining slots available ⭐️

Thinking of getting your dog involved in group walks? We have a handful of weekly slots available for dogs who would enjoy the company of others as they head out for outdoor adventures.

There are countless reasons to come on board and join our existing happy clients:

🐾- Group numbers are optimised to balance social interaction with safety and care.

👯‍♀️- Dogs are introduced carefully and grouped according to the best combinations (personality, energy levels, size etc.)

🏞️- Walking locations are carefully selected for your dog, taking into account factors such as pace and distance, as well as the need to avoid/mix in busier environments.

🪃- For those with recall training, off-lead time is given when in the right environment. A range of training commands are practised and reinforced routinely with all dogs during walks.

⛑️- Safety is paramount. Your dog will be in the care of a first aid trained walker and will be travelled safely in our van inside custom-fitted crates.

🏃‍♀️‍➡️- Your dog will come home tired and content after burning off some energy, socialising and having miles of fun!

If you think this might be the ideal setup for your four-legged pal, give us a call, email or message to get booked in ✉️ 📞

You can also visit our website for further details about our group walks, along with a range of other services:

Sunday was pet first aid certification day ✅

Massive thanks to Aubrey at Bluebell Pet Care First Aid for getting us all certified and making it such an enjoyable experience. We loved hosting and meeting all the lovely attendees 🤩

If you are in need of this type of training or are just considering it for the sake of being prepared, I cannot recommend Aubrey highly enough! She is just brilliant and a lovely person. Give her page a follow and have a look to see when/where the next courses are taking place.

📸 Second photo sums up how Freya felt about not being allowed in to lick every single person’s face 😂
