Our beautiful Rose needs your help.
Many will remember Rose. Left for dead in 2018 at the side of the road with 2 back broken legs. Nobody came looking. The first vet said she needed to be euthanised but thankfully that's when we were called.

Alan Mayo at Nantwich Pet Vets saved Rose's life. He unperturbed set about fixing her and rebuilt her slowly over 14 months. I genuinely believe not many other surgeons could have pulled off the miracle Alan pulled off and this girls life could have been short.

By the end of the 14 month recovery period Rose had shown us her demons. Demons from the life before she made it into our care. As loving as she could be she could also be let's just say quite violent, still to this day she remains unpredictable and has to be handled in certain ways. You can't tell Rose, Rose decides.

The staff at the kennels are all use to Rose, her foibles and with us in the main she's a positive delight. A demanding one but still a delight and Rose made the kennels house her own.

On my 3rd day of my holiday I received a call every rescuer dreads. Rose was lame. Not weight bearing and had been rushed to the vets. Her cruciate ligament had gone on her most damaged leg. The leg that had taken 14 months to rebuild. I felt sick and I'm not going to lie my holiday then comprised of thinking of her every minute. I was assured though albeit it lame she was still being her usual mischievous self.

Alan was also away on holiday so we waited till yesterday when Rose received surgery. Sadly due to the past damage she could not receive the preferred fix of a TAA instead receiving TPLO. Alan is convinced the surgery went as well as it could on a leg that had already received vast amounts of trauma.

We now have yet another £2500 to find. Like Timotei though Rose is worth it and we are sure she will handle the next few months recovery like the warrior she is. She will hopefully be home today after a night resting in the vets.

The first few photos are Roses initial state when landing, then photos of her journey to the window climbing mischievous diva she is today.

We know that Rose has a HUGE Greyhound Gap following. She's loved. Even by those whose as* she's attempted to place her teeth into.

If anyone would like to help us with the cost of once again fixing this special girl we would appreciate it.

Please mark Rose. If we were lucky enough to receive more than Rose needed this would of course be transferred to other dogs in our care vet bills.

We will of course keep you updated with her progress

The absolute state of this Country.
Meet Florence estimated to be 4 months old and today pulled from the pound as an unclaimed stray.
Our stray pounds are overflowing Florence's life could have been over before it began.

The kennels staff say she's very thin, slightly dehydrated so we'd guess the two combined indicate a heavy worm burden.

Little Florence was quite shakey to begin with but came around quickly and is already very loving.

Florence will now be observed for any infectious diseases as unactivated young dogs are especially vulnerable in a kennels environment. She will then receive necessary veterinary care and assessment before starting to look for her new home.

Dogs like little Florence only get a chance for a stable future through rescues like ourselves here at Greyhound Gap thanks to your support.

You can help us to continue to say yes to the Florence's by donating on the Facebook donate link below.

Just look at the size of the pups now.
8 weeks old on Monday. I'm on kennels duty tonight so this boy may have snuck in for a cuddle.
In 25 years of rescue I've only ever kept one pup from a litter I reared.
This litter is special though and this boys captivated me.
I go on annual leave Tuesday for 2 weeks and that will mainly be spent deciding whether this boy needs a home or whether he's already found one 😬

CLOSED TO INTAKE.

Yesterday was a horrendous day and on top of that we now need to pay another £2000 in unexpected vets bills as Stan our Frenchie boy had to have an MRI. We now have no choice but to close intake whilst we once again get on top of so many increased and additional costs and ensure we can afford maximum welfare for those already in our care. The added cost and weight of 12 puppies has also taken a strain.

For those who have followed Stans journey they'll know what a horrific time this lads had. For those who haven't I'll tell you.

Although not our breed Stan came to us as an urgent welfare case. Frenchies now are flooding stray pounds and due to their many physical deformities rescues are struggling to commit to saving them. They are costly little gargoyles.

Stan had been abandoned with 3 collars growing into his neck cutting deeply. Yet he never showed any aggression to any human. Once recovered he then recieved much needed BOAS.

Stan has suffered from gut intolerance and dietary issues which we've solved also then began to limp and showed some signs of spinal discomfort. Yesterday he received an urgent MRI.

As with most Frenchies Stans back is not great and he now requires 2 months rest. Thankfully it's not currently IVDD. However, as is always the case with us doing exactly what was needed has left us with another large bill.

We absolutely hate to keep asking. We are so conscious of donor fatigue but if anyone who can afford to can spare the cost of a takeaway coffee to help us once again get our doors open as soon as possible we'd appreciate it.

We'd also appreciate a share. We don't want to turn our backs on the Stans of the world when called up on but currently have to be more sensible with intake decisions.
