Information is power!

My mate Charene at put me onto this little gadget to check the temperature in the rear of the van, we both have invested in new bigger vans recently and going from a little Berlingo to a BIG Dispatch has been a bit of learning curve for me.

All my previous vans have had partial, mesh or zero bulkhead, this van has a solid bulkhead, which is brilliant because it so much easier to keep clean BUT in the past I could always just blast the heater or the fans and warm/dry everyone off or keep everyone cool. Right now, I’m not able to do any modifications by installing extra ventilation but I’m going everything I can to keep the back of the van as cool as I can.

I’m lucky that I have a little hatch under the passenger seat that I can blast cold air through and as you can see it really worked well to bring the temp down quite quickly.

I also have crate fans, cooling bandanas and vests and cooling mats available to the dogs as well as cold fresh water every day…I have an electric coolbox and ice packs on board so we can keep everything nice and cool and it’s fab.

Had some very happy doggos today, to be honest I have happy doggos every day!

Let’s not beat around the bush… when you don’t show up, it really does suck. 😅

Last week we had a couple of no-shows and, if I’m being honest, it’s incredibly frustrating — not just for us, but for your dog too.

When someone doesn’t arrive at their usual time, my brain instantly goes into troubleshooting mode…

“Maybe they’re stuck in traffic?”
“Maybe there’s been an accident?”
“Maybe there’s been an emergency?”

There are a whole lot of “maybes”.

So I wait.
And I wait a bit more.
Hoping for a quick message…

“Sorry, we overslept!”
“Sorry, the roads are awful!”
“Sorry, stuck behind a tractor!”

Honestly? Life happens. We completely understand that.

But last week, the messages never came.

Eventually I have to leave to continue with my walking dogs, and then comes the guilt of thinking:
“What if they turn up just after I leave?”

So later on, I send a polite check-in message:
“Hey, we were so sad not to see ### at daycare today, I just wanted to check everything is ok.”

The reply?
“Oh, I hadn’t even put it in the diary… oh well, you got paid for doing nothing!”

Ouch. 😬

The reality behind the scenes is very different.

Spaces are booked at your request and carefully planned around the individual dogs in our care. Sometimes we purposely keep numbers lower to support dogs who are more sensitive or need a calmer environment. That means we often turn other bookings away to accommodate those needs.

So when nobody turns up — and nobody lets us know — it doesn’t just impact our day, it impacts our business too.

We’re always understanding, approachable and happy to help when plans change… we just ask for the same courtesy in return.

Manners cost nothing — please use them freely ❤️

Ok who had storms and who didn't?

We had multiple here for a few hours last night and it was scary, one minute they were all around us and then right on top of us. No power for ages and a bit of an issue with the conservatory roof deciding we needed more moisture inside the house😫

Our most local town saw flash flooding and as soon as the temperature dropped, it rose again almost as quickly!

Anyway... lets get onto today!

Looks like the temps are going to behave today so let's get walking! Only a couple of dogs booked for walks today so I want to get all done as early as I can , just in case things turn again.

At this point, I am never moaning about the British weather EVER again, and I don't think Ben will ever laugh at my towel hoarding abilities again either 😂... Just got to get them all dried out!!

☀️🔥 HOT WEATHER POLICY 🔥☀️

Temperatures are crazy right now aren't they?!

So with that in mind, I am NOT doing any one hour walks for the next few days, if you are booked in and I have not moved your walk this is because I feel that I can offer a service to you... it will probably be an enrichment session, a mooch around the garden, a gentle shaded walk (and those of you still in my diary know I can confidently do this) BUT there will be no balls, no launchers, no paddocks and no getting in and out of the van for anyone but me.

Why?
Because quite simply, I'm not a k**b!

I have seen far too many people walking their dogs in the midday (and later) sun and it's made me absolutely furious!
I even cancelled a meet and greet for today because I did not want someone transporting their dog in their car in this heat.

I will be keeping a VERY close eye on the weather, I have to, for your dogs wellbeing.

The plan is to be early to your dogs, or I am happy for you to cancel if you'd prefer, or if you'd just like a couple of visits for toilet breaks message me... work with me and I will work with you 😉

Please make sure that your dogs have access to cool water all day, I will make sure that bowls are refreshed before I leave and if you are able to leave a window open (with curtains closed) fan or air con on for your dogs, please do!

One thing we love is being out and about with your doggos! 🐶

We always guarantee fun times and happy dogs on every adventure, whether it’s a wild walk or a paddock run, all our dogs go home with a full heart.

Some dogs come on adventures to improve their social skills, some come for the exercise, some like to break up the day and others just get sulky if they don’t get their fix of Auntie Em 🤣

Every dog in our care becomes part of the family and if you’d like your furbaby to join our crew just pop me a message.

We have various options… walks, paddock runs, daycare, boarding - oh yeah we are licensed too (21/00592/AWBH) and we do still have some limited summer availability.
