5 days post surgery for Pearl ✨
She is so resilient and takes everything in her stride 🥹 Going from going everywhere with me to not being allowed to leave the house and being confined to one area only, she’s taken it like an absolute champ! 💖
For those that don’t know, Pearl tore her cruciate ligament, which required TPLO surgery. During the procedure, the surgeon makes a curved cut in the top of the shin bone, rotates it to change the angle of the knee, then secures it with a metal plate and screws. It’s amazing what they can do! 🌟
This is an 8-week recovery for Pearl. For the first 2 weeks, she’s only allowed into the garden on a lead for toilet breaks. After 2 weeks, she can do two 10-minute walks a day. After 4 weeks, that increases to two 20-minute walks a day. At 6 weeks, she’ll go back to the vets for X-rays to make sure everything is healing as it should be. If all is going well, we’ll then start introducing slightly longer walks and hydrotherapy to help build her muscle back up. 🫶🏼
It’s a long process, but it will be so worth it. ❤️🩹
Also, if anyone has any mental stimulation ideas to keep Pearl entertained while she’s recovering, please let me know! 🥰🥰🥰
