I know some of you are going to be cross about this, and some will be sad - but after nearly half a century we’ve called “Time” at Baverstock. We are retiring, and our last normal trading day will be Friday 31st July 2026.

Although we’re not over the hill just yet, what we do is exceptionally physically demanding and it takes its toll. Westerham Hill mid-winters are gruelling, most of us are not young, and enough is enough. We all need to start a warmer, mellower chapter whilst our arthritic fingers can still turn the page! :D What’s more, my husband Konrad & I have three elderly parents between us who now need more support than we are currently able to give whilst running Baverstock.

It’s a highly emotional decision, so please respect that and be kind. We want to carry on for these last few weeks “normally” & just enjoy ourselves doing what we’ve been doing for so long together.

I know not having a feed merchant (one who has the space to carry the huge amount of stock we do) on your doorstep will be an inconvenience, but I’m quite sure others very close by will quickly jump at the chance to remedy that.

Team Baverstock is special. Lorraine has been outstanding, as has Rosie, and it is fitting that our dear, much-missed Donna is coming back for our last day, just because she wants to be with us. Thanks go to Devon who kindly agreed to come back and help us out with our last few months (despite already having a full-time job elsewhere!) - she’s been an absolute blessing. Thanks too to Alfie, who has reminded us of what it’s like to be 18. :) Baverstock has been a huge part of our lives, and we want to be together to say goodbye to it. One thing is for sure, the team at Baverstock will stay life-long friends.

Bring extra tissues for us if you’re coming in on the last day – and could the head-hunters for Lorraine & Rosie please form an orderly queue. I can’t recommend these incredible ladies enough.

Thanks for your custom, your loyalty and all the laughs. It’s been good, hard-working fun being part of this animal-loving community.

We will be trading as normally as possible in the run-up, so it will give us & you, our valued customers, time to get used to the idea - and the chance to say our goodbyes over the next few weeks. We’ve met some great people over the last 46 years. We’ll miss (most of) you. 😉 Thanks for reading. Lizzie xx

Don't forget we are closing early today (Thurs 30th April) at 3.30pm for our staff outing. We are off to celebrate Beltane Eve together, an ancient festival which marks the transition from Winter to Summer. It seems absolutely worth celebrating to us! Back to normal hours tomorrow. Beltane blessings to you all. :)

UPDATE; She's back and is currently sleeping off whatever adventure she went on. Thanks to all who shared our post.

Our beautiful Bea has gone missing since yesterday afternoon. She's rarely out of calling distance, so I am a bit concerned. If people along the Main Road near us could please check their gardens and sheds, I would be very grateful. Thanks

Product recall notice from Allen & Page. Just to reassure you, the stock of Fast Fibre that we currently have (and have been selling for the last 2 weeks) is not part of the recall stock, so if you've bought Fast Fibre from us recently, you don't need to worry. Any other stock you might have bought elsewhere, just check the label as per the picture - but it sounds like it would have been obvious there was something different about it. Allen & Page state that there are NO toxicity issues with the recalled batches

Fast Fibre Product Recall Update

To ensure that customers do not get any affected feed we are going to include batch no 15/01/26 best before date 05/05/26 of Allen & Page Fast Fibre, for additional reassurance. This is in addition to batch no 14/01/26 with a best before date of 04/05/26.

We are recalling these batches of Fast Fibre because of an ingredient issue which has led to reports of a darker colour feed together with a sticky consistency. While we conduct further tests, we have decided to recall these batches only for the safety of your equines despite not all bags being affected.

Please be reassured that these Fast Fibre batches do not have any NOPS issues, are not a doping/clean sport issue and are not toxic in any way.

We are advising customers NOT to feed Fast Fibre from these batches, as it may be out of specification and also for your additional reassurance. Customers should dispose of their bags only from these batches:
• 14/01/26 with a best before date of 04/05/26
• 15/01/26 with a best before date of 05/05/26

If you have tipped your bag into your feed bin and have not retained the label, and your bag(s) were purchased after the 16/01/26, please ensure you check the consistency and colour of your feed when soaked and if you have any concerns please do not feed.

If you have fed your horse and suspect that the Fast Fibre was from either of the above batches, and you have any concerns please contact us directly.
No other Allen & Page products or other batches of Fast Fibre are affected. If you are unsure if you have the affected batch, if you purchased your Fast Fibre before 16/01/26 your Fast Fibre is unaffected and good to feed.

We communicated this information to all stockists and customers at the earliest possible opportunity. We recognise that this may cause inconvenience and concern for horse owners, and we appreciate the patience and cooperation of those affected.

As always for further information or advice, please contact Allen & Page:

RUMOUR, GOSSIP & DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMERS – A RESPONSE

I’ve never been a huge fan of social media. Whilst it has real potential to unite friends and inform communities, it is so often used as a personal platform for the put-out & the pissed-off.

I was disappointed, but not surprised, to have my attention drawn to a Facebook post of this nature – one designed to have a pop at us for a considered business decision to cut back on our delivery rounds. Whilst I can see that people might take our decision personally, I still struggle to understand the mind-set of someone who uses Facebook to try to damage the reputation of a business that has served this community with integrity for 45 years.

For the record…. Yes, we are cutting back on some deliveries. We are down one staff member, and I value & love the remaining ones far too much to run them ragged. As well as an extremely busy delivery round, we have an incredibly busy shop – and cutting back on deliveries allows us to direct our resources to what we excel at – face to face service
I am sorry that our decision has upset some people. It’s unavoidable – but if you want to vent, I’m at the end of the phone. Ask for Lizzie

Take a look at our new Lincoln Stud website which has just gone live.
A big thank you to Faye Potter from PNF Marketing for doing such an excellent job in creating it for us.
It has lots of information about what we do, photos and videos of us and our horses. It gives details of our Training dates, some super horses that we have for sale, recent news and results and great job opportunities here at Lincoln Stud.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, experienced groom to join our team. Please contact us if we can be of any help to you or your horse or if you are interested in joining our team
