β¬οΈLets talk matts !β¬οΈ
Here's one to read whilst your eating your cereal π
I know i harp on about brushing your dog , but let me explain why it's essential π
πΆ The tiniest knots can turn into the biggest matπ
When the hair is matted , it pulls tighter and tighter on the skin which can cause brusing to the skin and can even rip the skin π
πΆMatting also can stop the blood circulation to the affected area , which cause a whole lot of other problems. Haematoma's being one of them .
πΆ This is obviously uncomfortable for the dog and can be very painful.
πΆ Once the hair has been matted , it's damaged. Even if it's brushed out , it's easily knotted again after being damaged .
πΆ Matting can hide so many things underneath such as skin conditions and injuries .
πΆ As groomers , we a legally required to prevent injury or suffering to the dog on the grooming table. Brushing out a coat full of matts is very uncomfortable/painful and will cause the dog excessive stress .
Any responsible groomer will clip the coat .
πΆ We do not clip dogs short for fun . It is always in the dogs best intrest . It is not the groomers job to keep the dog knot free between appointments π
So before you bash your groomer for clipping off the coat , just have a think how much you actually throughly brushed them π€
πΆ If you can't maintain the coat between appointments, maybe rethink the length of time or the length of coat to make it more manageable .
The majority of my clients are super at brushing and getting scheduled in for regular appointments, you wee super stars you π
