The very last cake from Sisters’ Kitchen. A long time to wait but I hope I did it well.

Henry Lee has had many cakes and treats over the years but now he is a hard taskmaster fitness instructor he deserved another, special cake.

Hello!

I hit 500+ cakes, recently, largely due to your repeat orders over the last few years.

Thank you so, so much for trusting me to make your dogs their cakes 🙏🏻

Costs have risen (not so slowly) for all of us in that time and 20%+ increases in raw materials, utility (a cake takes 4+ hours of electricity) prices and fuel hikes have made this a busy hobby rather than a profitable business.
I had (and probably still have) dreams of a shop and takeaway empire 😜.

Whilst having those dreams and hitting unthinkable targets, I’ve forced my family to eat every meal on their knees because the dining table is full of Tupperware with letters, icing bags etc, taken space in cupboards with moulds and ingredients, placed an industrial chiller in the kitchen, put up a centrefeed dispenser on the side of a kitchen unit (quite useful, actually 😃) and placed another American style fridge freezer in the hall.

Dry your eyes Lee, I hear you say 😉

As, I think, some of you also know I’ve had MS for 22 years (with all it’s annoying effects) and a hip disease from birth. Because I’m getting older and fatter (sad but true) my mobility is deteriorating. 4 falls in the past 2 weeks and a week in hospital have confirmed that.

The sum of all those parts has led me to draw an end to the Sisters’ adventure. I am absolutely gutted and quite tearful as I type this.

I’m a people person, I love dogs, I have dogs and this is not easy but I need to look at my family’s life and my own physical and mental health.

ALL EXISTING ORDERS WILL BE HONOURED

I only, really, know of one other cake maker for your pups (Pupcakes by Lilian) but, I believe there is a young lady who is doing great work but she’s in Ayr.

Nobody is dying here and I need to bear that in mind. It’s been a hell of a journey and learning curve (remember my background is in hotels, as a GM and FC).

Perhaps our paths will cross in the future. Please stay safe and hold your furbabies tight 🐶❤️

I have to take my hat off to the NHS staff - porters, nurses, catering staff, cleaners and all parts of the machine.

My care has been excellent but isn’t finishing just yet 😞. I (hopefully) will be discharged on Friday but am going to have to take it easy for a few weeks after that.

Normal service will resume as soon as possible 👍

So, here it is. The results of hard work but what a satisfying week it was - 6 deliveries, 1 collection, regular cakes, grain free cakes, peanut butter bones, dairy free cakes, haggis bones, black pudding bones and a peanut butter cake just to finish it off. Phew!

Every single one of them loved by their recipients.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that has ordered this week, in the last 4 years and for the next few weeks and months. The order book looks very healthy 🙏🏻

It’s Saturday night, it’s 11pm and I’m icing the seventh and last cake of the week.

2 deliveries tomorrow and then a week off 🎉.

Earlier tonight was family dinner out, trying to cover all bases of family and work life and then 6th cake of the week.
I feel, genuinely, lucky to be able to do what I do and I can only say “Thank you” to all the people who entrust me to deliver the best cake for their precious “children”.
