Jrasamuyr Border Terriers breeding and producing International Working and Beauty Champions
Combining working and beauty has kept the dogs fresh. Oliver picked up Champion French National Expositions. He did this in three months. It was started at the end of July 2015 and before his second birthday he had picked up 3 international FCI titles. Croatia, France and Italy. In France he had to win a Special Terrier. He won 2. Win 6 national tickets. Be placed Excellent, 1,2,3, at the terrier all breed show and have a Test Character. Lottie also would have got this title, having won 2 female special terriers. She got let down at the terrier all breed show. She was Excellent but her placing was one out. This is only held every September. Although I have run the dogs parallel at the shows they have run the same heat. As usual there are always more females. They have just about the same number of wins. Oliver is dual champion in beauty and working in artificial dens with fox. Lottie is dual champion on beauty and working fox and rabbits. They are both Absolute Champions in France and Italy for working and beauty. They have about 60 CAC each plus 50 CACIB awards. Then their working titles.
I had been born in East Africa so was used to travel around the world and had some use of French and Italian languages. This took us to 2015 and crossing the Italian border into Slovenia. The January show qualified us as Junior’s for Crufts 2016 before we got to Crufts 2015. We even took a 3rd in the Terrier Group FCI 3 as the judge took a liking to Oliver’s head and pulled us out of 33 best of breeds. Tina Turner “Simply the best” brings a smile to my face as I remember going around the ring to this song! The house at Lake Garda became useful and we crossed into Croatia. We picked up some more Crufts qualifiers under Geoff Corish. We rounded off some Croatian holiday time in Zadar where we came home as Croatian Champions. We completed the 4 tickets when Rafael de Santiago, President of the FCI, gave them their 4th ticket.
I had spent some of my childhood in Switzerland and have always felt it was a second home so we went to some Swiss shows and started to win the national CAC tickets and international CACIB that would permit us after one year and one day to collect International Beauty Champion title. Lottie even won a Swiss Terrier Show best of breed. They became Champion International Beauty, valentine’s weekend in Italy 2016. Both collected their FCI International Beauty Champion title with 12 CACIB awards after 366 days but in their career they currently have over 50 each. 12 was the maximum you could claim on their forms.
Italy was very familiar to me as I owned a property there and had travelled extensively. I looked at the shows and selected picturesque areas for dog shows. Combining a holiday with a dog show. France was totally new territory as I did not know the country at all and was over whelmed by its size.
They were now in Intermediate, 15 to 24 months. This would also allow them to compete in working trials of artificial dens and brush hunt with rabbits and hares.
We returned to Slovenia for a weekend which was a two day international and one day terrier special show. Lottie took 3 best of breeds over Oliver and the Czech/Russian/Polish Borders.
I wanted them to compete in working as the training with the mice at the farm had got them good at nose scent. Running with the horses made them keen and they were not afraid of other species. I joined the French terrier club which lead me to the Fox Terrier Club and Staffordshire Club. We started artificial dens with foxes. Oliver excelled getting top marks at each outing. Lottie excelled in brush hunt. She would excel one meet with foxes and the following would wag her tail and want to play with them. We had a go at foxes in dens. Rabbits in brush hunt. Wild boar in brush hunt. Both dogs were fulfilling their characteristic and it was my aim to make them dual champions in beauty and working. Bravo and Bellezza as the Italians would title it. I joined the Italian terrier club and had some very social weekends away. Dog showing took a new tack and we were very excited about working. We obtained Working Certificates from the French kennel club that then permitted entry at national shows in Working class. Italy unfortunately does not issue certificates to non Italian born dogs. It was a very busy schedule with lots of lovely trips away to interesting places. We got to Sienna, Firenza, Reggio Emilia. Each time eating very well. Suddenly we became part of an international circuit. Italy was difficult as there are a large number of professional handlers from Sweden and the big German kennels have professional handlers. Italians love beauty so dogs are very popular and there is a massive circuit.
France became a picnic summer, with trips to west France. We had some lovely trips and like the Italians, the French, take dog showing seriously and lunch is observed. Picnic tables and tents are laid out. Most shows also have good catering facilities. We won some beautiful cups and got to visit places that I had never heard of. Ancient thermal towns and shows with hunt displays of French hounds. Very horsey orientated and my dogs had a great time. We got invited to compete with the Fox Terrier Club and took some top awards on foxes. Oliver really enjoyed working and was developing his tactics. He took to jumping over the fox in the den, turning around, 18 x 20 cm, and baying the fox to the holding box where it had entered. He enjoys working above and below ground. The dens in Italy take on gradients and are 95 metres in length. They are difficult and not all dogs complete the course. Both mine have made me very proud. I knocked together some planks and hay bales and used to train on a simple short run with a lot of daylight coming in. The dens in France are much simpler and shorter. We are training towards wild boar now and have already gained CACT awards.
Now the pups of Oliver and Lottie are carrying on their line. Jrasamuyr Violette Szabo won 3 French Special Terriers with 11 CAC. Jrasamuyr Codex 2 French Special Terriers with 9 CAC. Jrasamuyr Campbell Black and Jrasamuyr By Markham are about to start as they have reached age. Both of them already have notched up some CAC and CACIB and Campbell moved out of junior and on 1st hit got a CAC in Italian Special Terriers.
All the off springs have CACT for wild boar. They are now capable of hunting fox. badger, deer, rabbit and hares. They have already dispatched these wild life.
Their bloodline from Oliver and Lottie is very strong and they show that this is genetic. I am very proud of Oliver and Lottie and very grateful for the beautiful puppies they have produced. Now to go on to the next generation. Violette will carry this line next. Thank you Oliver and Lottie for all the fun you have given me. Ever grateful and ever loving.
