Announcement to all of our customers:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Ryecroft Canine Retreat will no longer be continuing business.

Ryecroft started off as looking after our friends dogs every now and again, to friends of friends, to word of mouth spreading and over the years we have in turn welcomed so many of you through our doors and we feel so fortunate by your support.

We have been invited to share your joy of a new puppy, through all life stages, even to those hard goodbyes. We have witnessed the loss of puppy teeth to greying muzzles. We have been showered with kisses and wagging tails of returning regulars to comforting newcomers who are nervous about their first night away from home. We have been invited to play endless games of fetch and been tricked by puppy eyes into giving more treats than we probably should have! and it has honestly been an honour that we will never take for granted.

Whilst Ryecroft Canine Retreat will no longer be trading we wish to inform you that as of 5.7.2021 Carlisle Canine Centre will be taking over the premises - and with this all of your bookings that have already been made are safe with them. We are also thrilled that Lily, who you all know through Ryecroft Canine Retreat will be continuing employment with them.

You can reach Carlisle Canine Centre on 07500311900 - please ask for Pam, Ellie, Lily or Sue.

Please note that this page will in turn become inactive and future queries will be redirected to Carlisle Canine Centre.

Sometimes it's hard to find the right things to say, so once again we can't thank you enough for all the years of loyalty and support you have shown us - all our love, Anne and Martin Murray

---Announcement from Lizzie---

Hello everyone! I just wanted to let all our lovely customers know that after 4 amazing years I will unfortunately be moving on from Ryecroft next month.

It's a bittersweet feeling - I'll be moving onto working in a veterinary practice in an animal care role with an incredible opportunity to start gaining my Veterinary Nursing qualifications in the future and I am so excited, but I'm also so sad that I'll no longer be around Ryecroft full time.

I've realised that I won't have to opportunity to see most of you before I leave so I just really wanted to take this time to say thank you to each of you for all the trust you've put in us to take care of your dogs, it's been an absolute pleasure seeing you return time and time again and build friendships with both yourselves and your pups and I really mean it when I say I'm sad to go and that I'll miss you all and our catchups when you drop your dogs off! Ryecroft has given me the best memories and experiences and I'm just so grateful.

This also means you'll be seeing Lily in the borders a lot more and I have the absolute confidence that she'll give your dogs lots of love and cuddles on my behalf on top of all the love she already showers them with!

It won't be a compelte goodbye, I'll still be around to see Anne and Martin all the time and help out where I can, and I know many of you are patients at the veterinary practice I'm moving onto so I'll see you there as well! Don't be a stranger to say hello if you see me as well and let me know how your pup is getting on, will miss you all so much and thank you again for your support this past 4 years!

To all our lovely customers;

A couple of admin points so please read through in case something affects you -

Following the difficult decision a couple of months ago to temporarily close the kennels we are delighted to announce that we are now opening our doors again. As expected, there will be strict guidelines that we need to follow for arrival and collection that will be given to you upon booking, and we ask that you respect and follow these for the health and safety of everyone.

Also, we would ask that if you have a booking for the remainder of 2020 to please confirm with us ASAP if it is still needed before we turn potential custom away. We will be going through our books as quick as we can and contacting everyone who has booked but we would really appreciate if you could reach out to us.

Please keep in mind our books for 2021 are now open and are already filling up, especially during peak season (school holidays) so we urge you to book early to avoid disappointment.

As you know, we are usually open over the Christmas and New Year period, however we have made the decision to close for the 2020 Christmas and New Year holidays to give our staff and ourselves some much deserved time off to spend with families. During the pandemic we've still been working around the clock with our resident dogs and behind the scenes doing maintenance in the kennels, scheduled time off has been given up and understanably (the same as everyone) we haven't seen loved ones so we'd like to take the Christmas break to do so and recoup.
The dates we will be closed are 24th December-1st January inclusive. We apologise if this affects any of your travel plans where you are dependant on us.

Hope everyone is staying safe, we can't wait to see you again soon! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿถ

Due to the latest news update on Covid-19 we have no choice but to close with immediate effect until further notice and we will be contacting all our bookings individually to cancel.

In the case you are classed as an essential worker and you rely on us for day care we are still able to take your dogs under a strict protocol which we will go over with you via a phone call.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of our customers and staff for all their support and understanding during this difficult time. Please stay safe and healthy and we look forward to welcoming you and our furry friends back with open arms as soon as we can.

All the best,
Martin, Anne and the rest of the Ryecroft team ๐Ÿพ

Notice to all our customers concerning Covid-19;

We are in talks with environmental health and the council after seeing other businesses taking precautions and we have been advised to carry on as normal until further notice.

However, we know that many of your travel plans may have been disrupted and if this effects you and you have your dog booked in with us please let us know as soon as you can.

Similarly if your dog is currently staying with us and you have made the decision to self isolate please get in contact and we can try and make arrangements to return your dog to you ourselves or try and extend their stay where possible.

After some research it seems that Covid-19 cannot be transmitted through dogs but please know that we are still taking this very seriously and are keeping a close eye on everyone and have 24/7 access to our vet as normal and we are routinely keeping ourselves updated on the latest research.

Thank you for your cooperation and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions

We've just been informed of two dogs running on the A689 between the kennels and Carlisle.

A bulldog type (possibly Frenchie) and a brown and white Spaniel. Looks like they've been taking a swim apparently.

The situation as we know it is they're diving in and out of traffic and no one can catch them.

Please share so we can find an owner!

We will update this as we know more.
