Did you know that there are teams of dedicated people who seek out birds (mainly pigeons) who have string foot. This is where they get something caught around their toes which cuts off the blood supply and eventually it can result in them losing their foot. These volunteers capture the bird, remove the debris and treat the wound.

🐦 Stringfoot Sunday at Green Park & St James Park 🐦
Twenty four of us met up at Green Park including seven new pigeon loving members!

It was a very busy day in a very busy area and as well as destringing lots of pigeons in both parks, a goose was also helped!

As often happens, we picked up a number of poorly patients along the way who needed to come into the care of our wonderful rehabbers so we had a very productive day.

We met lots of kind people who were interested in what we were doing and were keen to watch and see the huge difference destringing makes to these pigeons lives.

It was a great day!

Lots of happy feet! 🩵

All goodbyes are hard, this one is going to hurt a little more.

Lesley, thank you so much for the amazing 6 years working for Pudge’s Flock; the many birds you rescued, the many people you helped out and mostly thank you for being there through all the ups and downs.

You took on so much, and touched a lot of lives! Hope your journey from now on out may still be full of adventures and kindness that you showed over the years.

Thank you 😊
Lesley Starbuck you are a legend and we're all going to miss you, happe endeavours!! ❤️❤️❤️

🕊 Welcome to our newest rescue! 🕊

We’re excited (and a little emotional) to introduce the newest member of our feathered family here in our Morecambe location, a brave little pigeon who came into our care this week.

He’s currently battling avian pox, a viral disease that causes wart-like growths on the unfeathered parts of a bird’s body - typically around the eyes, beak, feet, and legs. 😢 It’s not contagious to humans, but it can spread quickly between birds through mosquito bites or direct contact.

Avian pox facts:
○ It’s caused by a virus in the Poxviridae family.
○ Most birds recover with supportive care, nutrition, and time.
○ It’s more common in warm, humid environments where mosquitoes thrive.
○ While it looks alarming, it’s usually not fatal unless complications arise.

We’re giving him all the TLC he needs
As always, we appreciate your support in helping us care for these vulnerable creatures. Keep an eye out for updates on his recovery

A big thank you to the person that messaged our page about this little guy, you've been absolutely amazing!
