The Suffolk Agricultural Association
On our official page we will post the latest news and information on the Suffolk Show and other SAA events.
The Suffolk Show is run and managed by the Suffolk Agricultural Association (SAA).
As a charity, the SAA’s core purpose is to promote the importance of food, farming and the countryside through events like the Suffolk Show alongside a year-round programme of educational activities provided to the local community.
Your support allows us to provide Suffolk School Aged Children with opportunities to learn about food, farming and career paths in agriculture through the many events we hold throughout the year...
Each year the SAA educates over 4500 primary school children about where their food comes from at the School Farm and Country Fair. Over £12,000 is contributed towards the cost of schools’ transport to the event each year and involves over 80 local exhibitors encouraging the children to explore the many aspects of the agricultural industry.
In February, over 60 tractors and their farmers visit over 60 primary schools during Tractors into Schools Week to educate children on the Field to Fork process.
The SAA also hosts 2,500 secondary school children at Hollow Trees Farm for the Food & Farming Student Day allowing pupils to explore the many career opportunities available in agriculture.
Alongside these events, the SAA provides local schools with the Grow Your Own Potatoes planting and harvesting workshops.
Local schools are also able to take part in the School's Garden Competition and the Suffolk Farming School of the Year Competition which is presented at the Suffolk Show.
The SAA also provides opportunities for agricultural workers and families to be recognised and celebrated through the annual Long Service Award, Apprentice of the Year Award and Suffolk Farm Business Awards presented at the Suffolk Show and SAA Annual Awards Dinner.
