APBC page for vets & VNs

APBC page for vets & VNs A page designed to provide behavioural support and information for vets, vet nurses and other veterinary staff working in small animal and equine practice.

APBC members are able to offer the time and expertise necessary to investigate the causes of unwanted behaviour in companion animals, and outline practical treatment plans that are suitable for their clients' circumstances. The APBC also runs seminars and workshops for its members, veterinarians, and members of the public interested in the field of behaviour therapy.

🚨WEBINAR ALERT!🚨
Dogs are a social species and it’s normal for them to prefer to have the choice of company over isolation.
Puppies need to be taught independence and that it’s ok to be left alone, and some might need help learning not to fall apart if they can’t follow their human everywhere.
Rescue dogs have already suffered loss of an attachment figure & some might have experienced additional trauma that makes them more likely to struggle when separated from their caregiver.
And some dogs may develop difficulties with segregation, confinement or being left home alone for various reasons.
To get a better understanding of separation issues, I’ve put together a 1hour webinar for just £15 - as a starting point to help you and your dog: https://www.pet-sense.co.uk/product/separation-issues-in-dogs-webinar/

Cats don’t make it easy for us to help owners to understand and meet their welfare needs with regards to living with conspecifics. When dealing with inter-cat stress it’s your responsibility as a behaviourist or welfare specialist to know when to play marriage counsellor and when to play divorce attorney.
