LONG POST ALERT 🔔 ‼️ sorry these are not our usual pretty photos…
We had couple of requests from owners recently to de-matt badly matted dogs hence my post.
If you request solid mats to be combed out on badly matted dogs, our groomers WILL NOT DO THAT as it causes the dog unnecessary stress & pain, often leaving a very thinned and damaged coat & skin.
Unfortunately, groomers have no magic wands. We only use regular brushes. We can’t and we don’t want to brush out 1 year grooming negligence in few hours of grooming. Over-use of a slicker brush can lead to abrasions on your dog's skin, more commonly known as 'slicker burn' or 'brush burn. ' These issues can potentially lead to severe problems when your dog starts licking and chewing the affected area, opening them up to a possible secondary infection.
When a dog is presented to us in a severely matted condition, it is our policy to shave the whole coat off using electric clipper with close blade.
We groom humanely at PAWTIQUE and we abide by the Animal Welfare Act 2006. It is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to any animal incl. the painful de-matting process. If you do not agree with our shaving policy you will be advised to collect your dog.
Shaving off a severely matted coat is an act of kindness & your dog will thank you.

We became dog groomers because we love dogs. We refuse to torture them for the sake of good looks.

Additional note: Matted dogs are part of our job. There is no problem with that. Lack of knowledge about proper grooming needs, financial constraints, physical limitations, fear of the grooming process for the dog, mental health issues etc. …We understand all these situation and we always try to help.
We only ask if your dog is in bad condition please let us shave. It is only hair which will grow back surprisingly quickly. Please trust our professional opinion if your dog in needs of shaving off.
