⚠️ Sad Post Warning ⚠️
I've been putting this one off, because every time I think of what to write I get a lump in my throat, but I came to realise that's because I care so much for the dogs I look after ❤️
So here goes... Sweet little Holly.
She was 13 years old when we met and, apart from being deaf, had that twinkle in her eyes ✨ she knew exactly where we were going, especially when she saw the treats come out 😏 Given her age, I knew we didn't have years of adventures ahead of us, but the time we did have brought a special bond. I'd not had much experience with deaf dogs so I made sure I got into good habits of eye contact and hand signals from the beginning so we could enjoy lots of walks in the park, through sunshine and, to her dislike, the rain too 🤭 She was the first one I was able to take Opie with me to see. The first time they met, a beautiful friendship was made. His little ears prick up and head tilts if I say her name in our house 🥹 When it was too hot to go out or when recovering from her leg injury, Opie came to visit with me. They shared time playing 'find it' in the garden together and she even let him play with her toys. But I had to throw treats for her to find, otherwise she spent the whole visit barking at me 😄
I am sad to say that little Holly became unwell last week and passed peacefully over the rainbow bridge with her family around her 😢🌈 Rest those legs now little one, you'll be missed 🐾❤️
