⭐ It’s Top Tip Tuesday! ⭐

Today, BD Level 4 Coach Mike Whippey shares his top tips on listening to and being in tune with your horse. 🐴🎧

👂Listen to your horse.

'If you’re struggling to resolve an issue or train a new movement, break down the issue into small bite sized chunks. Remember the horse is incredible in their ability but incredibly simplistic in how they learn. As riders we need to be extremely clear in our praise and rewards when the horse gets it right, and very patient and understanding when they make mistakes.

Analyse what is going wrong:

❓Does the tack fit?
❓Is the horse getting enough hard feed?
❓Are they supple enough to perform the movement?
❓Are they fit/strong enough?
❓Is the balance right? Am I sitting correctly?
❓Are the aids clear and consistent?

Remember we’re trying to turn a natural born sprinter into a weightlifter – the process takes a long time even with consistent training.💪

If you can answer these questions honestly, you’ll come to a conclusion and can create a plan to address the issue. And if you’re still struggling to create a plan, speak to your coach and they’ll be able to support you.' 🙏
