🎆 Bonfire Night is approaching. Let’s help our animals feel safe.

Fireworks can be frightening for dogs, cats, small pets, horses and wildlife. These preparations matter for 5 November, New Year’s Eve and other celebrations too.

🐾 Walk your dog in daylight and stay indoors before fireworks begin.
🏡 Prepare a quiet retreat with familiar bedding.
🔒 Secure doors, windows and gates, and check your pet’s identification details.
🎵 Close curtains and play familiar music or television at a comfortable volume.
💜 Stay nearby. Comfort your dog if they seek reassurance, or let them hide if they prefer.
🐱 Bring cats indoors before dark and provide hiding places and a litter tray.
🐰 Give small pets extra bedding and shelter, keeping bonded companions together.

Never take your dog to a firework display or punish them for being frightened.

If your dog has struggled before, contact your vet now to discuss support. Sound training needs time and a gradual approach.

Please think of neighbouring animals and wildlife when planning celebrations.
