Meet our lovely boy, Roger! He’s a one year old American Bulldog with a sweet nature and a big heart and we’d like to find him his forever home!
🐾
Kennels are never the best environment for any dog but Roger is finding being here especially hard. While he can be a bit nervous, he’s also very sociable and needs to be part of a family who can fuss over him and give him lots of love.
🐾
Roger can live as an only pet or alongside another dog. He loves having other dog friends and playing with his toys. He knows his basic commands and walks well on a lead - Roger will make a wonderful companion!

Lets take it back to the start... 💜

Inspired by the carthorses that sparked the founding of the Scottish SPCA in 1839, Carthorse Gin honours a legacy of care.

These hardworking animals were vital to Scottish life but often pushed to exhaustion, until a group of compassionate Scots took action, creating a rest farm and a loan scheme to support both animals and families.

As years passed, our work grew - but our values stayed the same: compassion, care, and community.

With every limited-edition bottle of Carthorse Gin sold this summer, £8 goes directly to the Scottish SPCA, supporting our mission to make Scotland the best place in the world for an animal to call home.

🔔 We're putting out another special appeal for Monty. 🔔

Monty is a Reticulated Python and at 10ft he needs a specialist home with an owner who has large snake experience to deliver the care he needs. While we have made necessary adjustments to ensure he is well taken care of at our centre, he is in urgent need of more space and enrichment.

Reticulated Pythons are one of the most intelligent snakes. They remember people, identifying them by scent and movement. They are specialist animals and due to a lack of regulation surrounding exotic pets in Scotland, unfortunately end up in unsuitable living conditions.

Monty may grow up to 13ft so a space where he can stretch out is essential. He will need a space with climbing opportunities where he can continue to build muscle and can get plenty of exercise which is essential for his digestion as well as his mental enrichment!

If you think you have the correct set up for Monty, please visit this link to register your interest https://f.mtr.cool/ppcrplouxw

We also urge you to visit the link in the comments to sign the petition and read about our 'Don't Pet Me' campaign which aims to stop the wild pet trade in Scotland

🐾 When dogs are out and about, they’re often busy exploring the world around them. The best thing we can do? Give them space!

If there’s a time that you need to say hello to a dog, just remember to check it's okay with the owner, call the dog to you, and always give them the opportunity to leave at any moment to keep everyone happy.

⚠️ A dog can change their mind at any time, respecting their choice is important to keep everyone safe.

It's (almost) time for back to school! 🎒✏️

Getting back into work and school routines can be hard on both us and our pets.

Take a look below at our top tips to help make the adjustment easier for our furry friends:

1️⃣ Start early
Begin helping your dog the week before you recommence your usual routine and start with short absences before slowly increasing the duration.

2️⃣ Create a routine
A predictable schedule helps give them a sense of security so set regular times for walks, feeding, and departures.

3️⃣ Keep them busy
Mental stimulation helps reduce anxiety so we recommend leaving puzzle feeders, Kongs stuffed with treats, or chews to keep them occupied.

4️⃣ Stay calm
Big emotional hellos or goodbyes can make your absence more dramatic and stressful for the dog so it’s important to stay calm when leaving or returning home.

5️⃣ Create a comfortable environment
Designate a space where your dog feels secure which could be a crate, a quiet room, or a cosy corner, and fill it with familiar blankets, toys, or an item of your clothing. You can also play a calming playlist filled with slow classical, reggae, and soft rock.

Meet sweet, gentle Dame 💜

Dame is a bright, young dog who loves to play, is gentle when taking toys and treats, and enjoys showing off her new tricks.

Out and about, she walks well on lead and we believe her reactivity can continue to improve with more socialisation training.

She has lived with dogs previously and has shown some positive interest while in the Centre so may be able to live with other dogs, pending successful meets.

Dame has been overlooked but we know she will flourish with the ideal family.

Meet Candy, the sweet bunny ready to hop into your heart! 💜

Candy is a gentle, lovable rabbit searching for his forever home. He thrives with plenty of enrichment, a healthy diet, and, most of all, lots of love from his humans.

He could live in a home with rabbit-savvy children and could potentially bond with another bunny after slow, careful introductions.

Give Candy the love he deserves, and he’ll give you his whole heart in return.
