Hello everyone, we have today taken the very tuff decision to extend our winter closure period, this will mean we will miss out on the very much needed Easter trade and welcoming both new and regular visitors back to the farm and taking you guys out on horse back around our very special part of the world.

This decision has not been made lightly or particularly willingly however a number of factors has made it simply our best if not only option.

During major storm flooding last October a nearby bridge was damaged and remains unopened along our 1 hour route, whilst we don’t have to ride across this bridge, recently due to the closure of another bridge, it became our only vehicle access route in case of emergency, without the option of vehicle access we can’t use this route.

Due to major road re alignment work on our two hour route this has also been made un useable.

On top of this, forestry operations carried out on our land has rendered our games site un accessible for the second season running - leaving the viability of the business as a whole in question. Without the income from the games the equine side of the business is unlikely to be able to cope on top of our covid recovery.

So with what feels like all the planets aligning against us, we will remain closed for treks and outdoor games for the foreseeable. We hope to have discussions with our landlords and pony club membership in the near future to hopefully bring about a positive outcome.

In the meantime, all the horses remain happy and healthy and look forward to seeing you all again! Have a lovely Easter everyone and we will speak again soon, Andy and all the team at Dalchenna 🤠 🐎 💨 🐣 🍫 🥚

**Volunteers Welcome**

Argyll Adventure is a 5 star activity centre just outside Inveraray, Argyll, As an approved Pony Club centre and following BHS governance, The centre operates predominately as a seasonal trekking centre and riding school so all volunteering will centre around horses and the running of a farm based business, however we also aim to return the outdoor games later in the summer, so opportunities to be involved with these will also become available.

We have numerous options for days, duration and outcomes. You can just pop in here and there, come for set days/times or sign up for a longer period where we could offer you a placement to work towards some equine qualifications.

Basic on site accommodation available for anyone wanting to stay on for a period of time.

Morning everyone very excited to finally be able to announce 2 new arrivals to the farm. You all know Andy’s passion for rare, minority and native breeds. But perhaps not the work he has carried on with his long standing friend Gary, head of collections at Blairdrummond safari park.

Andy and Gary have been working on crossing some of the hardiest native British ponies with super strong, fast, agile and hardy zebra species that form part of Blairdrummonds current breeding programmes.

Look out for Zahara & Zoe on your next visit, they are remarkably calm and gentle and will form a vital role in our trekking team this year! 🐎 🦓 🐎

Just some of this WEEKS expenses..

Farrier £280, Haylage £2340, Equine Dentist £1100, Vet £834, Diesel £450.
Over £5k and that’s before we look at the regular monthlies, utilities etc.. 😩
